AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Explosive Handler.
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
The purpose of the role is a mandatory requirement to enable effective book keeping of all explosives transactions in a magazine in accordance with the Mining regulations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure Workplace safety – Ensure that the magazine is well kept and should always be under lock and prevent unauthorized entry
- Improve productivity – Communicate with team member on the effective handling and usage of explosives to prevent explosive damages, and explosives accidents. This will also reduce explosive wastages
- Explosive reporting – Ensure that explosives stocks in the Magazine are as per the regulation and any contravention is reported immediately
- Explosive management – Keep records of all pertinent explosives transactions in the Explosive Log Book and prevent unlawful entry into the magazine
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualification
- SSCE or equivalent
Experience
- 3 years’ experience in underground operations
Legal Requirement
- Certificate of competency in Blasting
