CIC Technician: Pastefill - AngloGold Ashanti

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

• The Technician, CIC – Pastefill is accountable for all Control, Instrumentation and Communication maintenance at the CIC infrastructure in the pastefill area through strict adherence to Engineering Maintenance Standards and Company policies and procedures.
• The role is responsible for monitoring, controlling, operating and executing work to standard on all CIC aspects of the pastefill space to maximise plant availability in a sustainable and cost-effective manner while minimising operational risks.
• The role holder monitors and operates CIC equipment to ensure plant equipment functions according to design parameters, procedures, compliance requirements and operational standards.
• The role holder is accountable for day-to-day shift monitoring, inspection and execution of weekly CIC preventive maintenance so equipment is maintained to original equipment manufacturer standards and handed over fit for purpose to the Pastefill operations team.
• The role provides timely information to the E&I Supervisor - Pastefill on the performance and status of CIC equipment at Pastefill.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Work according to total quality management principles and support zero defect and safety objectives.
• Comply with Government of Ghana agencies requirements, environmental, health and safety legislation, AGAG regulations, applicable codes, industry standards, AGAG quality systems, policies, procedures and internal project requirements.
• Accept personal responsibility for own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by the work performed.
• Ensure compliance to safety leading indicators and use inspections, audits, JHA and other safety management system elements individually and as a team.

• Lead by example to create a safe working environment where risks are assessed and managed and tasks are performed without injury or harm.
• Assist with timely investigation of injuries, illness and incidents and support action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Assist in conducting periodic safety audits of surface CIC aspects and report hazards associated with the work.
• Execute corrective actions in a timely manner to prevent damage to equipment, personnel and the environment.
• Adhere to the site Environmental Management Plan and follow operating procedures and environmental rules for assigned work.
• Implement maintenance and operational activities in accordance with Government of Ghana conditions of approvals and the site Aspect Register related to the section.
• Correct or report observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions to the E&I Supervisor - Pastefill and suggest improvements to environmental management.
• Gather information for the E&I Supervisor - Pastefill for reporting performance.
• Work according to AGA’s How we Work guidelines and attend required training, development and performance improvement sessions.
• Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, superintendents and management.
• Monitor, control, operate and maintain CIC equipment in the pastefill space.
• Comply with operating procedures for the performance of assigned work and execute CIC refurbishment and maintenance tasks in accordance with relevant regulations.
• Communicate with and provide feedback to the E&I Supervisor - Pastefill on CIC equipment condition and performance.
• Identify equipment or system operation anomalies indicating maintenance requirements, and report and escalate as required.
• Interface with contractors and construction teams as directed regarding CIC refurbishment works and planned works to support the work plan, schedule and expectations.
• Provide data and information to support the Maintenance Planner to close out work orders in SAP on completion of tasks.
• Assist in conducting periodic inspections and audits of CIC equipment in the pastefill space.
• Operate all equipment within a safe working environment.
• Carry out work cost effectively and identify and communicate potential cost reduction initiatives.
• Execute work in a timely manner and coordinate refurbishment work with contractor time plans, escalating real or potential delays to the supervisor.
• Monitor equipment performance on the asset health system and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
• Report directly to the E&I Supervisor - Pastefill and report all CIC issues to the same.
• Stop equipment from operating if there is a high risk or it is unsafe to use.
• Stop work if the right controls for critical control verifications are not available and ensure colleagues are safe where the work is being done.
• Recognize machine, equipment or crane operation anomalies that indicate maintenance requirements and report and escalate them.
• Assess equipment required for task completion, create checklists and transport the tools necessary for the work.
• Respond to Requests for Information and Technical Query processes and review and approve appropriate technical and non-technical documentation.
• Provide input into relevant health, safety, quality and commissioning plans for work within the CIC space.
• Work with the supervisor so the planning team can create and update reviewed SOPs and work instructions.
• Help the supervisor generate Bills of Materials for standard jobs, share updated parts lists and develop work packages.
• Attend all safety and environmental meetings, scheduled training and mandatory tool-box meetings.
• Execute all projects assigned and support timely delivery of work.
• Participate in internal and external construction audits as required and support development of a CIC audit plan for pastefill CIC aspects.
• Be involved in and ensure full compliance with regulatory audits and inspections.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve cost, schedule, quality and safety outcomes in engineering and mining activities related to CIC pastefill aspects.
• Provide technical CIC input into commissioning plan development and help execute refurbishment and construction resources to support commissioning.
• Support refurbishment works, witness inspections and testing to ensure delivery in accordance with designs, specifications, quality and performance expectations.
• Proactively identify work to avoid potential cost, schedule and quality issues and support change management for the CIC pastefill unit.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Technician II Certificate or equivalent
• Associate degree or technical diploma in Engineering Technology or related field
• City and Guilds certificate Part II
• MINCOM certification will be an added advantage

Experience

• 1-2 years in technical roles, preferably in the mining industry

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong CIC and electronics maintenance capability and fixed plant operations knowledge
• Sound knowledge of CIC standards and specifications
• Fully competent in CIC and electronics trade
• Good knowledge of troubleshooting faults in CIC and electronics systems
• Ability to communicate effectively
