Staff Nurse - Plantations SOCFINAF Ghana

JOB SUMMARY

To provide safe, effective, compassionate and patient-centered nursing care to patients attending or admitted to the Health Centre. The Staff Nurse shall work under the direction of the Matron/Nurse-in-Charge and in collaboration with the Medical Superintendent and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive appropriate, timely and quality care.

The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, implementing nursing care plans, administering prescribed treatments, monitoring patients’ conditions, maintaining accurate records, promoting health and safety, and promptly escalating any changes in a patient’s condition.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities shall include, but not limited to;

• Patient assessment and nursing care.

• Medication and treatment.

• Specimen collection and clinical procedures.

• Patient monitoring and emergency care.

• Participating in clinical audits, quality improvement activities

• Ward/clinic rounds and handover.

• Documentation and records.

• Infection prevention and control.

• Health education and patient support.

• Equipment and supplies.

• Teamwork and communication.

• Professional development and accountability.

• Patient safety and quality of care.

• Perform any other lawful duties assigned by the superior from time to time.

RSPO, HSE, and ISO Responsibilities:

• Comply with all applicable RSPO and ISO 14001:2015 requirements, including policies and plans, as applicable

• Contribute and promote a positive culture by complying with all safety and environmental management procedures, security protocols, and emergency response measures, and assist in carrying out actions that would mitigate the risk of injury to myself and other employees and damage to plant, equipment, and the environment.

• Be aware of the environmental policy, the significant environmental aspects and related actual or potential environmental impacts associated with my work, my contribution to the effectiveness of the environmental management system, and the implications of not conforming with the environmental management system requirements.

• Work safely and ensure that environmental aspects, including but not limited to waste, are managed properly.

• Take personal responsibility for my safety and the safety of others by adhering to all workplace health, safety, and security requirements.

• Ensure the proper use of company-provided PPE and exercise due care in performing my assigned duties.

• Promptly report any injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions, or environmental incidents to my supervisor and help identify and correct unsafe acts or behaviors.

• Actively participate in toolbox meetings, required training, and cooperate during incident or hazard investigations.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of Diploma in Nursing from any recognized institution.

• Must be a registered member of the Nurses and Midwifery Council of Ghana with a valid license.

• Minimum one (1) year post-rotation work experience in supporting the management of patients’ healthcare at a facility.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) for document and data management.

• Good knowledge of hospital management software.

• Ghana GHS Patients’ Charter.

• Knowledge of basic life support.

• Knowledge of risk assessment.

• Knowledge of health and safety.

• Very good customer service skills.

• Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance issues.

• Good knowledge of clinical diagnoses.

• Conversant with clinical consultation and drug prescription management.

PERSONALITY COMPETENCIES 

• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

• Must be empathetic and caring.

• Ability to work under pressure.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

• Ability to work in a team.
