The Nuclear Regulatory Authority, in line with the directives of the Governing Board, invites applications from suitably qualified staff of the general public for the position of Director, Finance and Administration Directorate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the Directorate's strategic and annual operational plans in alignment with the Authority's objectives
  • Direct the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the Authority's budget in compliance with public financial management laws
  • Ensure financial integrity, accountability and prudent management of all public funds entrusted to the Authority
  • Establish and maintain robust financial systems, internal controls and reporting frameworks in line with the Public Financial Management Act and related regulations
  • Oversee the timely preparation and audit of annual financial statements and statutory reports for management and regulatory review
  • Provide strategic leadership in human resource management, including policy development, performance management, staff development and employee relations in compliance with labour laws
  • Supervise administration functions including facilities management, logistics and general office operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Manage banking arrangements, receipts, disbursements and accounting systems to ensure transparency and operational continuity
  • Collaborate with technical Directorates to review fees, charges and cost structures to improve service delivery and financial sustainability
  • Lead, supervise and appraise Directorate staff, fostering high performance, accountability and professional development

Qualification Required & Experience

  • A minimum of Master Degree in Finance or Business Administration or relevant field
  • Must be a member in good standing of a professional body such as CA/ACCA/CIMA/CIHRM
  • Must have at least 9 years of combined relevant experience with not than 4 years at senior management level with a similar organization
  • Must not be below the rank of a Principal Accountant or a Principal Administrative Officer
  • Must have attended senior management development programmes

Terms of Appointment

  • The position is for a 5 year period but may be renewed for a second term
  • Applicants must be able to serve a full term of 5 years
