At Primelane, we’re redefining mobility through fleet management and vehicle financing solutions.
Our mission is to make car ownership accessible to drivers through structured repayment plans, while giving vehicle owners peace of mind with full fleet management services.
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to help build and scale the core infrastructure and services powering our ecosystem. This is a hybrid role - you’ll work remotely on some days, but also collaborate with our team in our Accra office when needed.
Your Role & Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and infrastructure supporting our digital products.
- Develop reliable, scalable systems using Java and TypeScript.
- Work with databases and cloud platforms (Supabase, Google Cloud App Engine).
- Write and maintain serverless functions on Supabase.
- Collaborate with frontend, product, and operations teams to deliver performant and secure systems.
- Implement clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise backend performance and data flow.
- Contribute to architecture discussions and technical documentation.

What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a backend or full-stack developer in a tech or startup environment.
- Strong proficiency in Java and TypeScript.
- Experience working with databases (SQL / PostgreSQL preferred).
- Understanding of RESTful API design and integration.
- Familiarity with Supabase or similar cloud database platforms.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Google Cloud preferred).
- Solid understanding of software design principles and version control (Git).
- Based in Accra, with flexibility to work both remotely and in-office.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Node.js and JavaScript.
- Exposure to serverless and microservice architectures.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps concepts.
