Job Summary:

Responsible for providing the network related business intelligence required for business decisions. Manage and provide technical guidance to a team of analysts responsible for mining and analysing all areas of network data by ensuring quality and integrity in data reporting aligned with laid down standards and best practices as defined.

Key Tasks:

Reporting and Analytics

  • Responsible for the network business intelligence (BI) delivery. Work closely with the commercial BI team to deliver on company required analytics for decision making.
  • Responsible for driving and supporting Group led reporting requirements.
  • Ensure all network-related Management reports are produced timely and in the required format.
  • Ensure the compilation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports on QoS to NCA.
  • Responsible for stakeholder Quality of Service requests, reports, and verification of reports. This involves provisions of statistics as requested by NCA and on-site verification of reports with the team.
  • Responsible for analyzing reports from the reporting system and making recommendations including providing insights for management decision making.
  • Develop an automated and effective environment for the Network Performance Reporting and KPIs monitoring.

Customer Experience and Stakeholder Management

  • Perform bi-annual prioritization of all sites in the Network for Customer Experience Model by collecting data, reprioritizing, and circulating to all stakeholders.
  • Liaison between NWG and Marketing, Customer Care Sales, and Corporate Services (media engagement) divisions on network issues or complaints.

Regulatory and Compliance

  • Align all NWG departments and sections on KPI calculations and verification with the Regulator.
  • Represent MTN on Telecom chamber technical committee and chart MTN agenda through analyzing NCA requests or methodologies and collaborate with other operators' representatives to present analytics to the Telecoms Chamber to better advise the NCA from operators' viewpoint.
  • Work with the Corporate Services Team on Regulator led network projects and incidents reporting and updates.

Network Performance and Management

  • Responsible for ensuring War Room Management Technical Initiative Implementation (National, regional, and CEX war rooms).
  • Align Network Performance KPIs with overall MTN philosophy and the definition, refinement, selection, and implementation of network performance tools.
  • Liaise with stakeholders on data management initiatives for Network Group

Additional responsibilities

  • Coordinating, tracking and reporting on network technology strategy.
  • Responsible for updating group reporting tools and shared locations for data

Education

  • Minimum of a B.Sc. Electrical/Electronic Engineering/Telecommunications Engineering/Computer Engineering or Statistics
  • A blend of engineering and statistics is a plus
  • PowerBI certification is a must

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant work experience network reporting and data analytics or related role specifically in the Telecommunications industry
  • At least 3 years’ experience of which must have been in a supervisory role

Professional/Technical competencies

Knowledge

  • Knowledge in network system technologies (GSM, WCDMA and IP networks, etc…)
  • Knowledge in management systems associated to the different vendors
  • Knowledge of performance monitoring tools
  • In depth knowledge of statistical counters and KPI and KQI indicators for the Network
  • In depth knowledge of the statistics for the different vendors
  • In depth knowledge of merging statistics of different vendors to report at Network level
  • Knowledge in use of reporting tools
  • Good technical communication to non-technical staff
  • Knowledge of Drive testing tools and analysis of drive test log files
  • PowerBI
  • SQL
  • Data mining, data handling and data visualization skills
  • Organizational understanding and awareness of trends and strategic direction
