Ghana is an Anglophone country surrounded by Francophone countries. The financial sector is very vibrant. The country operates a flexible exchange rate, but with a volatile currency. The Oil industry is very competitive having about 70 (seventy) oil marketing companies. There are 3 (three) major oil marketing companies including TEMG. The energy sector is partially regulated. The company sells on both cash and credit basis and this calls for effective controls to ensure proper accountability.

It also operates a multi-currency regime with its attendant exchange rate fluctuations. The company operates throughout the country with some areas very remote, requiring regular monitoring especially the banking system. The company is also listed on the Ghana stock exchange, which requires very stringent and accurate reporting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all asset creation and subsequent capitalization.
  • Ensure that all physical assets movement are updated in SAP.
  • Monitor the movement of capital expenditures (investments) from internal orders to WIP on daily/weekly basis.
  • Liase with project owner departments in preparation of project completion report for asset creation.
  • Responsible for assets disposals and depreciation run for month-end closure of accounts.
  • Preparation of monthly reconciliation between fixed assets register and the Trial Balance.
  • Update spreadsheet of Work-in-Progress (WIP) and follow up with operations for timely capitalisation.
  • Monitor asset cost allocation from internal order creation through to the close out forms.
  • Reconcile assets close outs to payments made to suppliers, tax authorities etc.
  • Perform periodic fixed assets verification.
  • Involve in major asset verification exercises during commissioning.
  • Reconcile assets per locations with users and ensure that differences are resolved.
  • Posting of all Inter-company service invoices.
  • Monthly filing of VAT on Inter-company service invoices.
  • Prepare fixed Asset schedule for monthly Corporate Tax and Deferred Tax computation.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation for Fixed asset and other assigned accounts.
  • Responsible for updating TEMG leases in CLM.

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in accounting (2nd Class Upper Division) or recognised Professional Accounting qualification.
  • Knowledge of Finance and Accounting, plus at least two years post-qualification experience.
  • Must be prepared to work beyond normal hours.
  • Must be dedicated, reliable and inspire confidence.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
