JOB SUMMARY

The Finance and Admin Officer will be responsible for managing project financial reporting and provide administrative support to staff.  He/She will work project team to maintain sound financial management practices and ensure compliance with Donor and SEND GHANA’s financial procedures, rules, and regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate financial management aspects of projects, including preparation of monthly financial reporting to donors, managing procurement processes, maintaining proper books of accounts and documentation.
  • Assist management in maintaining sound, transparent, accounting, and financial management internal control systems.
  • Manage projects annual budgeting process and provide budget management support for project staff.
  • Work with program team to develop monthly project workplan budgets, monitor variances and review adherence to such budgets.
  • Provide financial assistance, as needed, to project local partners on financial compliance and reporting.
  • Review retirements and other expenses supporting documents to ensure accuracy, reasonableness, value for money and conformity with SEND’s financial procedures.
  • Ensure that monthly bank reconciliation statements are prepared, signed, and filed by appropriate staff.
  • Support Finance Manager in preparing annual financial reports, budgets, and management reports.
  • Assist with internal and external audit and or review of project financial documents.

Required Skills or Experience

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a reputable university, a master’s degree will be added advantage.
  • Pursuing professional accounting qualification - minimum CA (Final Level) or ACCA (Strategic Professional)
  • At least four (4) years’ practical working experience in financial management in an NGO, audit or related field. 
  • Proficient in computerised accounting, QuickBooks Accounting software for donor reporting
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other software.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills in English
  • Possess competencies such as being highly organised, attention to detail, teamwork, and good communication skills.
