AGROPAL is seeking to hire a suitable candidate to fill the role of a Human Resource Manager. This professional will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources department including workforce planning, recruitment and selection, pay and benefits administration, performance management, training and development, company culture and enforcement of company policies and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Develop and regularly update HR policies and procedures.
  • Advise senior management on HR best practices, compliance, and people management issues.
  • Lead recruitment of permanent, contract, and casual workers.
  • Plan and execute mass recruitment campaigns during major harvest/production seasons.
  • Oversee orientation of all new hires.
  • Implement a performance appraisal system.
  • Develop and implement annual training plans.
  • Administer salary structures, payroll inputs, and benefits programs, including annual leave allocations, health and retirement plans.
  • Foster a positive work environment marked by teamwork and commitment, through the implementation of Food Safety and Quality Culture initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to employment laws and organizational policies, guaranteeing compliance across the board.
  • Oversee grievance and disciplinary procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to promote food and workplace safety.
  • Ensure HR readiness for audits and certifications, i.e., BRCGS, IFS, and Organic.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records.
  • Manage employee database, both manual and electronic.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly HR reports.
  • Supervise human resources staff and actively participate in performance reviews.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with personnel at all levels, offering expert guidance on diverse human resource policies and related matters to enhance comprehension and facilitate effective communication of best human resource (HR) practices.
  • Play a pivotal role in promoting food safety and quality culture; adherence to health and safety regulations, and championing a secure work setting for all staff members.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s Degree or professional HR certifications e.g., CIHRM, SPHRi etc. is a plus.
  • A member of a recognized professional body is advantageous, but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in human resources management, with a proven track record in recruitment, employee relations, training and performance management preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute HR strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Strong understanding of labour laws, employment regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Familiarity with HR software and systems for payroll, recruitment, and performance management.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving, conflict resolution and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple HR functions and balance short-term needs with long-term strategic goals.
  • Proficiency in data analysis to support workforce planning and HR decision-making.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.).
