Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd. (“AGGL”) is a joint venture between Galiano Gold Inc. and Gold Fields. The primary asset is the Multi-Pit Asanko Gold Mine complex, located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Galiano Gold Inc. are the managers and operators of the Asanko Gold Mine.

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic human resource professional to take up a role in our Organizational Capability Department as HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER – EMPLOYEE RELATIONS & COMPLIANCE

JOB PURPOSE

The HR Officer- Employee Relations & Compliance will be responsible for facilitating employee relations and engagements to build a positive and engaged workforce. The incumbent will lead the company’s initiatives on continuous improvement in the company’s employee relations framework and deliverables.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee Relations

  • Lead the development, review and management of employee handbook, employment contracts template and related policies and documents.
  • Act as the first point of contact for the Organizational Capability Department, regarding employee compliance issues.
  • Lead investigations on employee grievances and complaints and manage the outcomes in line with company policy.

  • Investigate and resolve all employee relation issues in a timely and effective manner to prevent it degenerate into a major issue.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of employee relation programs and provide feedback improvement.
  • Assist with the implementation of the company’s equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. 
  • Compliance
  • Assist in the dissemination and education of company policies and procedures to ensure compliance by all employees.
  • Collaborate with Asanko business partners to address employee issues and grievances promptly.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions for both Asanko and its business partners.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of compliance-related training to educate employees and business partners on legal requirements and best practices.
  • Perform any other duty as assigned by the supervisor by Asanko policies.

Required Skills or Experience

Knowledge

  • Relevant degree in the humanities from a recognized tertiary institution;
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience in employee relations or a similar role from the mining or related industry;
  • Any recognized HR professional certification will be an added advantage;
  • Strong computer literacy skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook); 
  • Skills
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills;
  • Critical thinking and the ability to solve problems;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Diligent with great attention to detail;
  • Good knowledge of Ghanaian employment laws.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
