The Group Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial activities of a group of companies, ensuring compliance with accounting and regulatory standards, and providing accurate and timely financial reporting to the management team.
Job Title: Group Accountant
Job Location: Accra.
Employment Type: Permanent Employment (Full Time).
Direct report to: Group General Manager
Liaise with: Heads of Departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements for the group of companies, including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement, in accordance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts for the group of companies, including revenue, expenses, and cash flow, to support strategic decision-making
- Financial Analysis: Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, and provide insights to the management team to support business decisions.
- Taxation: Ensure compliance with tax regulations and oversee tax planning and reporting for the group of companies.
- Treasury Management: Manage the group’s cash flow, including banking relationships, cash management, and investment activities, to ensure adequate liquidity for the business.
- Team Management: Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality financial reporting and effective accounting operations.
- Filing of end-of-year audited accounts: Prepare complete and accurate accounts with accompanying trial balance and notes and provide supporting documentation to meet external auditors’ expectations.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of Annual Return Forms together with Audited Accounts to GRA.
Required Skills or Experience
- CA / ACCA / C.I.M.A professional qualification preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably in a multi-company environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, as well as financial reporting requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience with accounting software, preferably SAGE.
- Strong team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team to achieve high levels of performance.
