Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill a vacancy in the post of Budget Officer in the Parliamentary Service of Ghana.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Budget Officer shall assist the Director of Budget to:

  • Prepare the draft annual estimates of Parliament in line with approved guidelines
  • Conduct expenditure forecasting and budget costing analysis of the resource requirements
  • Ensure effective and efficient management, monitoring and control of budgetary allocations to cost centers
  • Develop internal budgetary controls accordingly to monitor the expenditure utilised in carrying out programmed activities.
  • Review, analyse and revise data with respect to the preparation and finalisation of cost estimates and programme budget proposals submitted by Parliamentary Committees, Departments and other cost centers
  • Prepare Parliament's committees, Departments and other cost centers with the preparation and implementation of their respective work plans and budget estimates
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Clerk to Parliament.

Qualification Required & Experience

  • A good first degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Planning and Development Studies or a relevant social science discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience and a Master's Degree in the relevant subject with at least 3 years in a position analogous to Assistant Director II in the Public Service OR
  • A good first degree and a Master's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Planning and development studies or a relevant discipline with at least 3 years post-Master's degree qualification experience with at least 3 years in a position analogous to Assistant Director II in the Public Service.
