The Gender Specialist will be responsible for leading the programmes gender inclusion activities, including developing and implementing activities designed to increase access by women to modern electricity services to enhance their social and economic opportunities, increase employment opportunities for women at utilities and government agencies, increase the number of women in leadership positions within the energy sector, and facilitate training for women in technical fields.

The Environmental Specialist will be responsible for leading the programmes environmental assessment and stakeholder engagement activities. As directed by the Chief of Party or their designee, the Environmental Specialist shall perform, oversee, and support the performance of the following specific tasks:

  • Provide targeted technical assistance to public sector stakeholders, utilities, and project developers to carry out the environmental assessment and stakeholder engagement activities, utilizing Power Africa’s Community Engagement Tool, such as public involvement programs, environmental management plans, resettlement action plans, and benefit sharing mechanisms
  • Identify the programmes activities with potential environmental impact, and develop plans to help reduce that impact

Job Description

Travel Coordination

  • Support the development and implementation of project travel policies, procedures, processes, and templates
  • Coordinate the development and approval of international travel requests for submission to client
  • Make travel arrangements for project staff members as required
  • Assist project staff members in obtaining required visas and residency permits and track renewal requirements
  • Maintain project travel calendar and regularly communicate updates to the project leadership team, the security team, and other relevant parties
  • Establish and manage relationships with travel service providers including travel agencies, hotels, visa service providers, etc.

The Information Technology (IT) Specialist will be responsible for managing the project’s overall IT and technology security needs. This includes managing the project server(s) or document filing/storage system, coordinating ongoing maintenance of equipment, assisting with technical challenges, and monitoring compliance with project policies related to technology use and security.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage project office IT systems and equipment, including:
  1. Provide training and guidance for staff members
  2. Collect project requirements and lead selection and installation of IT systems and equipment
  3. Manage the systems over time and provide technical support
  4. Liaise with third-party service providers as needed
  • Manage staff email addresses and overall account with the identified service provider
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of IT equipment (computers, printers, etc.) and assist team members with technical issues
  • Keep track of all IT equipment and ensure assets are properly recorded and tagged according to requirements
  • Lead the development of a thorough Confidential Information Management Plan (CIMP), which should detail how staff members must handle various project documents and information, and in general how the team plans to protect confidential material
  • Develop and implement information security protocols and systems to protect project information. Enforce compliance with the approved CIMP plan and other project technology protocols on an ongoing basis, using audits as needed.

  • Support the alignment of all project activities to Performance Indicators, Targets, and Expected Results in the ME&L Plan
  • Support setting of monitoring and evaluation targets

  • Report on progress against indicators and results to technical teams, project leadership, and to the client as requested
  • Prepare quarterly and annual report content relevant to progress against ME&L plan
