• Certificate in Mechanics or Technician
• Driving Certificate from a Driving School
• Must possess a valid Driving License
• Must have at least 2 years work experience driving in a corporate organisation
• Must pass a selection interview

Competencies

• Good communication skills in English language - verbal and written
• Must follow prescribed or prearranged routes to destination
• Must be able to use maps and GPS to navigate routes
• Must be able to maintain vehicle

Duties/Responsibilities:

General and Administrative:

  • Maintaining an up-to-date database of all the institution's vehicles.
  • Ensuring drivers have the appropriate Class and valid Licences.
  • Advising on recruitment of new drivers and testing of driver candidates in traffic rules. signage, signaling and practical driving.
  • Advising on driver deployment.
  • Acting as the Line Manager to the Transport Department, evaluating drivers' performance, allocating and rotating appropriate work assignments.
  • Submitting regular and comprehensive monthly reports to the Supervisor on vehicle movements, fuel usage and problems.
  • Ensuring vehicles are used in accordance with the institution's policy and that vehicle usage data is correctly recorded.
  • Conducting regular parade and inspection of administrative and pool vehicles.
  • Performing any other related duties when required

Transport and Fleet Management:

  • Ensuring observance of road safety standards: ensuring project vehicles are used in accordance with established rules and regulations and that vehicle usage data is correctly recorded.
  • Tracking vehicle and fuel usage with GPS tracking
  • Tracking Vehicle Road Worthiness Certificates and Insurance and working with the Supervisor to ensure they are always renewed in a timely
  • In charge of the day-to-day movement of vehicles on official duty.
  • Checking vehicles' log Information weekly and making corrections where necessary

Maintenance and Servicing:

  • Maintaining proper inventory of all components of vehicles, making sure they are maintained and checked frequently.
  • Ensuring the maintenance and servicing schedule of the vehicles is followed,
  • Tracking repairs and costs as part of monitoring and overseeing the repair processes.
  • Preparing servicing requisitions for repair and  maintenance at the appropriate garages.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with vehicle repair shops, liaising with them regularly to ensure vehicle repairs are appropriate and done

Qualification/Requirements:

  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering (Automobile option). CILT certificates would be an added advantage.
  • Familiar with GPS Vehicle Tracking System.
  • Ability to manage transport operations in similar
  • Ability to assess potential mechanical problems and advise on preventive maintenance and repair
  • Leadership skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to influence others to reach consensus.
  • Computer Literate (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and knowledge in Transport Management Systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. ix, Ability to demonstrate creative approaches to problem solving.
  • Excellent independent judgement and decision-making skills.
  • High energy and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work in and promote a team environment/concept.

Work Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Motor Vehicle Transport Operations Management.

  • Ensuring that the motorcycle is cleaned routinely of when the need wises.
  • Carrying out daily inspection on the general condition of assigned motorcycle and properly locking motorcycle when there is a need to leave it

  • Adequate knowledge of the structure of motorcycles.
  • Must be a skilled motorcycle rider.
  • Must possess a rider's licence.
  • Ability to speak, understand and write the English
  • Must be willing to work at odd hours during peak
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Must have a positive attitude towards work.
  • Ability to mad and follow travel guides, plan and learn routes.
  • Ability to interpret road signs and markings.
  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Must be friendly and presentable.

Experience:

At least Iwo (2) years' experience in similar role.

This is a full-time position that will be based in Accra, Ghana. The Transport Associate will facilitate the transportation of programme staff and implementing partners in Accra and Takoradi during the implementation phase of this project. He will report to the HR & Administrative Officer

Responsibilities and duties

  • Drive JSI allocated vehicle and observe all road rules and signs according to the required legal and traffic
  • Carry out different inspection of the vehicle before driving such as checking of coolant, oils and other fluids.
  • Carry out minor vehicle repairs and other emergency activities such as flat tires during any road breakdowns.
  • Update all vehicle documents such as car registration and insurance.
  • Maintain a car logbook, fuel and oil requisition book and prepare a logbook summary each day.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the motor vehicle.
  • Collect and deliver documents, parcels or mails as directed by the supervisor.
  • Perform other work related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

  • Basic knowledge in mechanics and vehicle repair and maintenance,

  • Ability to work under pressure and longer hours when periodically required.
  • Good teamwork and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive issues and maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times
