The Credit Officer is to facilitate lending for our clients by assessing creditworthiness and processing relevant paperwork and making recommendations for approval.

This include preparing loan applications, evaluating clients’ financial information and calculating risk ratios. Should have a good understanding of lending procedures and customer service experience.Ultimately, you will help our clients acquire and repay loans in a timely manner, while ensuring we comply with the law.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage loan portfolios including loan originations under the supervision of the Manager/Credit Committee/Board
  • Assess clients’ financial status
  • Evaluate creditworthiness and risks
  • Contact clients to gather financial data and documentation
  • Review loan requests,analyze risks and make recommendations for approval or rejection of loan requests by the appropriate approving authorities
  • Calculate financial ratios (e.g. credit scores and interest rates)
  • Ensure that loan risk management policies and insurance are implemented
  • Set up repayment schedules
  • Maintain updated records of loan applications
  • Monitor progress of existing loans
  • Perform collections on loans. Work with delinquent borrowers to obtain satisfactory loan performance
  • Follow up with clients about loan renewals
  • Ensure loan portfolio volume, concentration and quality targets are achieved

Compliance responsibilities:

In carrying out his/her duties on behalf of the Credit Union the Credit Officer shall at all times act in conformance with the Rules of Credit Union, Policies and Procedures, The Credit Union Legislative Instrument (LI 2225), Bank of Ghana regulations, and all other relevant legislation and regulation.

Main performance measures:

  • Consistency of implementation of Credit Union policies and procedures
  • Timely recording of transactions and filing of loan documentation, generation and submission of required reports for appropriate stakeholders including the
  • Board and Management of the Credit Union, CUA, Bank of Ghana, Department of Cooperatives, etc.
  • Accuracy of work and low error count
  • Quality of support provided to the management team
  • Contribution to financial soundness of the credit union through credit portfolio growth and quality and good control practices

The Back Office & Accounts Officer manages the back-office functions of the Credit Union, ensuring appropriate routines and processes are created and maintained; acts as book-keeper and prepares monthly accounts, management information and other reports and returns; assists the preparation of annual operating budgets, helps manage budgets and cash-flow and supports all finance and administration functions of management.


Principal responsibilities:

  • All aspects of back-office administration
  • Cash management, including collections and deliveries and prompt lodgment of cash and cheques received with bankers.
  • Reconciles bank accounts; reconciles cheques and cash lodgments daily to bank accounts; reconciles daily transactions to control accounts; ensures adequate cash collections and deliveries
  • Accounts payable and supplier administration
  • Assists with preparation of yearly budgets and prepares analysis of the actual to budget and variance analysis therein
  • Prepares monthly management accounts, half-yearly and annual financial accounts; maintains general ledger
  • Prepares prudential reports for CUA/BoG, statutory returns, tax returns and insurance reports and ensures they are completed and delivered in a timely manner and within the regulated timeframe
  • Supports the audit process and related tasks, including liaising with and providing inputs to the work of the statutory (DoC/CUA) and internal auditors (Supervisory Committee) and other external agents including BoG, as required; ensure the audit process concludes in time ahead of AGM timings
  • Liaise with the Credit Officer and the Credit Committee
  • Administers insurance schemes
  • Reconciles all insurance accounts and ensures timely payment of premiums
  • Maintains fixed asset register, including additions, disposals and calculation of depreciation

  • Prepares and implements staff payroll as directed by the Board/Manager; calculation and payment of PAYE and pension contribution deductions
  • Supports the work of the Treasurer/Manager and the Board regarding investments; administers the investment portfolio (e.g. transfers of new funds, rollover of maturing deposits); maintains and updates the Credit Union’s Investment Register

Risk and Compliance Analyst

The Role Purpose:

The post-holder is accountable for Financial Risk Responses, supporting the implementation of and monitoring the adherence to, Finance policy and process in the cluster, providing a critical part of the feedback loop to Regional Head Risk and Compliance.  They will proactively analyse the control environment, identify hot spots and ‘trouble shoot’ as needed.  They will make recommendations to Regional Head Risk and Compliance for remediation and drive through change to meet required standards.  They will also lead on counter-fraud planning and initiatives within their cluster, working closely with the central counter fraud team.


Role Requirements:

  • University degree in a relevant area, preferably Accounting, Auditing or Finance
  • Risk Management qualification desirable
  • English language certificate or will be required to take the APTIS test and demonstrate a B2 level of English proficiency
  • Minimum of 3 years of qualified experience in a relevant role

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of Financial Reports, budgeting and compliance with internal/regulatory requirements.

Education:

  • 1st Degree in Accounting, Economics or related field
  • ACCA /ICA Member

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform the maintenance, review of financial records and regularly prepare periodic reports to update Management on the Company’s Financial status.
  • Assess the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and accounting records
  • Responsible for the co-ordination, consolidation and report on the performance of the various Business Units for the entire business.
  • Analyse business operations, financial commitments, costs, revenues trends to develop projections for future revenue and expenses
  • Co-ordinate, prepare, review, monitor budget and provide feedback to Management for efficient resource utilization.
  • Prepare Monthly/Quarterly/Semi-Annual/Annual Bank of Ghana Returns
  • Required to lead in all audit/inspection of Company and implement recommendations.
  • Required to review, audit and authorise all transactions before capture into ERP System.
  • In charge of implementation of and compliance with internal controls/regulatory requirements relating to financial reporting functions of the Company
  • Co-ordinate, review and supervise the work assigned to the Finance function
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and finance standards, best practices, and government regulations.
  • Manage the maintenance, modification, operation, and implementation of assigned Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System; identify and resolve ongoing functional and technical issues; coordinate and test system modifications; recommend operational and procedural changes to the system as necessary.
  • Audit and review the integrity of the reconciliations of the various general ledgers and sign off

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Experience in a Management role is desirable;
