Condition Monitoring Supervisor
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
The Condition Monitoring Supervisor is accountable for performing all condition monitoring functions of all underground equipment, surface support infrastructure and the processing plant which includes vibrations, temperatures, pressures, oil levels and flows, NDT, etc. and reporting. The role holder supervises condition monitoring and NDT technicians and assists the reliability engineer in developing, implementing and reviewing equipment maintenance strategies, reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) tactics, and defect elimination projects in order to improve equipment reliability and asset integrity of the mine plant and equipment to world-class standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
- Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
- Supervise Condition Monitoring and NDT Technicians and Assist Reliability Engineer in gathering information for reports
- Conduct audits of Underground Equipment and Shafts

- Conduct reviews of the condition monitoring function to identify actions for continuous improvement
- Assist the Reliability Engineer to develop condition monitoring routes and checks for Plant equipment;
- Execute CM checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, vibration data collection, infrared data collection, ultra sonic data collection, motor current and flux data collection, simple NDT data collection;
- Analyze and trend predictive maintenance data (vibration, IR, etc.) to determine plant condition and report this condition for action;
- Monitor general physical condition of plant assets and report
- Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary;
- Generate work requests in SAP as required for maintenance planning and scheduling
- Perform routine condition monitoring tasks on all the rotating equipment by data collection using advanced portable data collectors and other tools according to the established schedules and as per the plant requirements.
- Gather information on vibration & other data collected to diagnose / troubleshoot rotating machinery problems.
- Actively participate in Reliability improvement programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of Rotating equipment as per requirements.
- Identify, communicate, and implement potential cost reduction initiatives
- Monitor equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
- Execute work in a timely manner
- Report directly to the reliability engineer on issues and identify and execute improvement projects
- Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualification
- Minimum of Diploma or Equivalent Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- None Destructive Testing, Vibration Analysis and Infrared Thermography Level 1 qualifications
Experience
- Six (6) years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 3-5 years in an engineering operating facility.
- Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation
Legal Requirement
- MINCOM Inspecting Engineer Certificate of Competency
Technical Competencies
- Practical knowledge in the use of SAP
- Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing
- Knowledge in OEM legalities and mining regulations

Engineering Supervisor, Shaft Maintenance
The Engineering Supervisor – Shaft Maintenance is accountable for coordinating the work, training, monitoring and control of quality, of cage operators and shaft maintenance technicians to ensure the operation is at all times fully compliant with LI2182, safe, and compliant with operational and Engineering policies, standards, systems and procedures to maximise plant availability in a compliant, safe, sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Application of HSE regulations with zero tolerance to breaches.
- Demonstrate Safety behaviour consistent with AGAG’s vision and values.
- Lead by example to create a safe working environment, where risks are assessed and managed so tasks are performed without risk of injury or harm.
- Ensure monitoring and data collection to demonstrate execution of the Shaft maintenance in Statutory Inspections of Shafts, Transporting and Slinging of Materials and all Other shaft related Jobs in accordance/compliance LI2182, accordance with the Government of Ghana conditions of approvals and the site’s Environmental Management Plan

- Review, approval and sign off of the shaft maintenance team items detailed in the Refurbishment Execution Plan and schedule, infrastructure detailed design requirements, detailed testing plans, operational commissioning plans, handover plans, training plans, manuals, records, drawings, specifications and documents issued.
- Deliver shaft maintenance items consistent with the legal compliance required in the refurbishment plan and commencement of operations stages
- Comply with reporting processes for managing shaft maintenance that meet cost, schedule and quality expectations consistent with the scope and quality contained in the Feasibility Study within area of accountability.
- Monitor and ensure the shaft maintenance and refurbishment work is of a standard that is compliant, supports the operational requirements of the equipment and is at optimum cost
- Identify sub-standard work practices, identify root cause and eliminate by corrective action.
- Develop and maintain the shaft maintenance portion of the Shaft Engineering Management Plan, as a key Project Execution Plan sub plan for the area of accountability
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualification
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering, or equivalent
- HND or MET III or equivalent
- MET II
Experience
- An experienced Shaft Maintenance Supervisor with 5+ years’ experience in Shaft maintenance.
- Must be knowledgeable and conversant with Provisions of LI2182 in relation to shaft work & Maintenance
Legal Requirements
- Must possess minimum of Inspecting Engineers Certificate of Competency from Minerals Commission of Ghana
- Understand and know the use of Shaft log Book & its Importance
- Professional Certificated Specialist with a relevant certification body
Technical Competencies
- Strong Winder and Shaft Operations competencies in underground mining
- Excellent knowledge of requirements of LI2182
- Sound project management skills
- Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
- Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems.
- Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties.
- Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems
- Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel
- Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated understanding of good Engineering practices and the implementation of proactive maintenance strategies

Winder Engine Driver
The Winder Engine Driver is accountable for operating hoists and cage winders compliant with LI2182, safely, in accordance with other compliance requirements, operational and standards, systems and procedures to maximise plant availability in a compliant, safe, sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
- Operate / Drive Winder (Man & Rock) in Compliance with LI2182 (Adansi – 3, GCS-3, BSVS-3, KMS-3, KRS-3)
- Conduct periodic audits of all Winding equipment in area of operation and report
- Identify actions for continuous improvement and that operability to requirements is ensure

- Organize information for the Senior Winder Driver to allow development of condition monitoring routes and checks for infrastructure equipment;
- Execute daily work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, motor current and flux data collection
- Report any anomalies to Senior Winder Driver for the generation of work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/ maintenance planning and scheduling
- Carry out daily pre-start and/or shift handover checks and complete check sheets as required according to the established schedules and also per plant requirements.
- Complete shift short interval control sheets as required
- Monitor operating parameters on the integrated control system and take corrective action as indicated or required
- Log monitored equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to register and escalate symptoms of potential failure to Senior Winder Driver
- Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used and report to Senior Winder Driver

Legal Requirement
- Winder Engine Driver’s certificate of competency issued by the Chief Inspector of Mines in accordance with LI2182

- Excellent knowledge of requirements of LI2182
- Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
