Job Title: Commercial Corporate & Investment Banking Head - First National Bank
purpose
responsibilities
- To take ownership of FNBG’s CCIB Strategy together with key stakeholders for the growth of sustainable corporate, commercial and investment banking activities in the defined key markets in Ghana.
- To maintain stakeholders’ buy-in and formulate business plans to implement the strategy.
- To ensure that our Ghana strategies and activities are aligned across the key markets and with our international activities, particularly in the defined target Ecosystem.
- Work closely with country CEO and other Exco team members to execute the strategy.
- Partner with the FNB International team, RMB team and other key FNB and RMB role players to ensure strategies are aligned.
- Co-ordinate the establishment of the requisite platforms (including product, risk, credit, finance, operations and technology) in order to operationalize and execute FNBG´s CCIB Strategy.
- Be the go to person for in country RMB matters.
- Deliver growth in line with the strategy in the following areas: Liabilities; Assets; Top Line Revenue and Profit Before Tax.
- Proper execution of Strategic plans and activities i.e. ensuring that the whole is worth more than the sum of the parts.
- Identification and conversion of business opportunities for our Ghanaian business.
- Formation and management of strategic partnerships in Ghana and in FirstRand Group to facilitate the strategy.
- Participation in landmark transactions.
- Balance sheet and platform management for FNBG.

- To work with FirstRand, FNB International, RMB and in-country executives and teams and functional areas (credit, risk, finance, human capital, business technology, operations, etc.).
- Develop retention and growth plans for existing clients and entry strategies and business plans for new clients identify key business opportunities and develop key relationships in each client.
- Co-ordinate and align remuneration and human capital policies across in country business together with Human Capital Head for Ghana and co-ordinate the Ghana remuneration process for the entire CCIB team; and lead and manage in country CCIB Team.
- Chair CCIB Excos.
- Develop and formalize budgets and targets for business activities and monitor the attainment of such across all product areas.
- Develop and implement appropriate performance measurement and incentive structures to ensure that all in country functional resources are working towards, executing and delivering on our African strategies and goals.
- Co-ordinate and assist with development and implementation of cross segment and divisional growth strategies.
- Leverage CCIB lead strategy and client base to enable growth and retention strategies in other segments.
experience and qualifications
- Minimum qualification: Relevant post-graduate degree (e.g. CA / CFA / Analytics /MBA).
- Minimum years of relevant experience: 8+ years relevant banking experience.
