A reputable Oil Marketing Company wishes to recruit a recent graduate for the position of Accounts Officer to support the Finance and Accounts department of the Company.  The successful candidate will report to the Senior Accountant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing payment vouchers to support all cash and cheque disbursements.
  • Preparing bank transfer instructions.
  • Administering the petty cash fund, and preparing monthly reports for reimbursement.
  • Ensure that cash advances (accountable imprest) are monitored and cleared on a timely basis.
  • Issue receipts for all monies received by cash, cheque or bank transfer.
  • Prepare and issue monthly statements to customers.
  • Prepare invoices for all sales made to customers.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations for all the Company’s bank accounts.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate records of assets, liabilities, revenue and expenditure, payments and other financial activities.
  • Perform other general accounting tasks, including preparing journal entries and financial reports

Knowledge and Skills required

  • Knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and concepts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Detail-oriented
  • Fluency in oral and written English
  • Highly organized

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Business Commerce from a recognized university.
  • A minimum of 1 year’s relevant work experience.
  • Must not be more than 27 years of age at the time of application.
