AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Graduate Engineer.
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
The purpose of the role is to prepare the holder to handle higher roles, and to sustain quality control in the Mining section, in order to deliver safe work practices.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure Workplace safety – Work with authorities, other peers and subordinates promote best practices and find means for continuous improvements practices, improve sectional health, and environment wellness
- Improve productivity – Monitor stoping sequences and ensure targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to standards
- Contractor Management – Monitor the Mining contractor to achieve the Short to Medium Term Production Plan
- Material management – Encourage usage of resources to eliminate waste and unsure that mining standards are met in accordance with the contract terms
- Diamond Drilling Activities – Monitor diamond drilling exploration programmes and ensure optimal delineation of geological blocks for mining
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualification
- BSc. degree / Diploma in Mining Engineering
Experience
- 1 year post-graduation experience in underground development, and open stope mining
Legal Requirement
- Shift Boss certificate of competency
