Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

• Mechanical Engineer diploma of interest.
• 15 years' experience in Oil & Gas essential.
• Experience as Engine Room Supervisor/ Chief Engineer on a FPSO or similar facilities essential.
• Detailed knowledge of tanker systems and operations highly desired. 
• Expertise or knowledge of diesel motor, diesel generator, diesel fire pump, chamber bowl separator, boiler essential.
• Be able to understand, interpret the different control parameters through a HMI console.
• Be able to understand the Process of Production (FPSO).
• Previous experience in a similar role or leading a mechanical team (expat/local) desired.
• 1st Class Motor Certificate with tanker endorsement desired.
• Recognised expert in diesel motor, rotating equipment
• Skills to work with MS office and CMMS Maximo or equivalent
• Physical and medical aptitude to work on offshore environment
• Strong stakeholder appreciation essential. 
• Experience in providing on-the-job training or mentoring more junior peers highly desired. 
• Experience of working with Localisation programs highly desired.
• Diplomatic – able to work with various players to achieve objectives. 
• Experience of working in remote locations desired.
• Good attitude to work.
• A strong Team Player.
• Flexible/adaptive to change.
• Fluent in oral and written English

Job Overview:

A global supplier and operator of offshore floating platforms seek an Engine Room Supervisor to work on their offshore Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel on a rotational basis in West Africa. You will manage maintenance and repair work, shutdowns, isolations and planned maintenance in the Engine Room etc. This is a senior level role and applicants are invited with a minimum of 15 years oil and gas experience, with relevant experience as outlined, working on a FPSO or similar facility. The Company has been in operation for many decades and are well established as a leading provider of floating solutions for the offshore oil and gas industry. They offer a range of vessels such as FPSO’s, FSO’S and FLNG and much more. They have an enviable reputation for EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) services as well as charter and operations projects. They operate globally and have offices in many countries. 

Responsibilities:

This role encompasses many functions including:

• Manages maintenance and repair work, shutdowns, isolations and planned maintenance in the Engine Room.
• Manages class and flag survey requirements and undertakes or supervises the preparation of machinery or equipment for survey.
• Be familiar with the Facility's plant and machinery and shall ensure that the maintenance staff under your control are adequately trained in their safe operation and maintenance.
• Ensures that your knowledge of safety requirements, including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, Company policy and instructions are adequate and current for the role.
• Shall assist the Maintenance Superintendent with the preparation of the running repair list.
• Liaises with the Maintenance Planner in spare gear and Maintenance of on board stock levels, to ensure that the Facility's operational capabilities and safety are not jeopardised.
• Maintains accurate records which shall be readily retrievable and conform to the Safety/ Facility Management Systems; prepares data for entry in the daily report and Maximo. The handover notes will encompass a comprehensive coverage of his/ her work during the period on board.
• Prepares the maintenance procedures that relate to the job (manpower, tools, logistic).
• Prepares the Work Permit for related Engine room activities and attends to daily Work Permit meeting.
• Daily controls on the running equipment and facilities under your responsibility. Establishes a record sheet of main parameter and be capable to interpret it and set up the corrective action if it is required.
• Participates at the commissioning of the new or modify installation.
• Guarantor of the availability and integrity of the equipment inside the Engine Room.
• Participates in the failure root cause investigation of equipment and be capable to establish a technical failure report.
• Participates in a coordinated Nationalisation and on the job training program.
• Develops and nurtures a culture of continuous improvement within the Maintenance Department.


This is a permanent role offering a competitive salary. In addition: 

• Offshore / Hardship allowances may be considered. 
• Transportation as necessary and required. 
• Alternatively, a transportation allowance may be provided. 
• 15 days paid leave and public holidays.
• International Medical Cover.

? The Company will provide accommodations 
? Foreign Service Premium may be considered.
? You will be entitled to 1 trip for every 3 months service. This will include an economy flight plus 7 calendar day home leave (including weekend and public holiday but excluding travel day) to visit your home country or to travel outside of designated country. 
? Once a year, someone can accompany you - economy flight paid.
? A small relocation allowance may be offered. 
? The Company will organise all aspects of mobilisation/ demobilisation 
? The Company will organise work permits.

This is an offshore rotational position and as such:

• You will work 28 days on and 28 days off.
• You will be a permanent employee working effectively for half the year 
• You will be paid monthly and the salary will reflect the work schedule
