Responsibilities

• Designing a marketing strategy for OBAASIMA in alignment with the Steering and Operational Committees of the project, and building upon learning from the earlier phase of the project
• Set and achieve strategic goals related to marketing initiatives and channels (ex: social media metrics, television & radio advertising) aligned with the business development team to guarantee impact of marketing investment on the program’s goals
• Executing on marketing activities and projects in the context of the above-mentioned strategy and goals through a combination of in-house execution and contracted marketing agencies
• Processing technical aspects and further developing the area of responsibility in accordance with the quality standards as specified in the marketing strategy
• Assisting project initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of stakeholders
• Supporting innovation and knowledge management activities within the program

Tasks

Strategy design, management and coordination

• Developing a framework for all B2B and B2C marketing activities to be implemented within the Obaasima project in line with project objectives, inputs from consultations with the Steering and Operational Committees of the project and also lessons learned from the earlier phase of the project
• Developing detailed Terms of Reference (ToR) and Bill of Quantities (BoQ) for the tendering process for subcontracting a marketing agency to implement the marketing activities of the project
• Providing a quality check on technical and financial offers submitted by tendering marketing agencies as well as providing a comprehensive evaluation and recommendation for the selection process
• Conducting project activities and carrying out other activities required for executing the marketing strategy for the Project
• Facilitating preparatory meetings with the contracted/assigned marketing agency reporting to superior and all other relevant entities in case of any irregularities or inability of the contractor to meet quality criteria needed for the preparation and roll-out of the marketing strategy
• Supervising the contracted marketing agency through regular consultations (including on-site visits) to ensure the following;
• Progress of implementation of the marketing framework and plan
• Quality standards and control of subcontracted agencies and materials used
• Compliance with objectives and goals established for the Obaasima project in general and stakeholders’ interests in particular
• Burn rate of funds by the marketing agency in compliance with contract terms
• Finalization and guarantee of proper final hand-over from the contractor
• Regularly consulting with the GIZ officer responsible for the contract and cooperation on all project activities
• Regularly reporting on marketing activities of the project according to agreed schedules to relevant stakeholders


Professional advisory services

• Providing technical assistance on marketing to participating manufacturing companies on the Obaasima seal as necessary

Communication and networking

• Develops and maintains contact with all important and relevant stakeholders
• Provides technical assistance to local and international experts
• Assists in ensuring knowledge management by collecting, processing and distributing relevant marketing information, monitoring communication and interaction between all stakeholders

Other duties/additional tasks

• Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Marketing/MBA with marketing specialization or similar qualification of a relevant field
• At least 8 years professional experience in a comparable position
• Advanced functional skills and proven experience working in the following areas; market research, brand marketing, advertising and promotions, digital marketing etc.
• Experience working on marketing campaigns for multinational companies
• Proven experience in working within multi-stakeholder frameworks (public and private)
• Proven ability to deliver results by executing on plans that meet organizational goals and metrics
• Strong skills in stakeholder management

Other knowledge, additional competences

• Strong can-do attitude and willingness to create results under pressure
• Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, email, internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
• Willingness to travel regularly in accordance with project requirements
• Excellent command (written and spoken) of the English language
• Good team player with excellent interpersonal skills
• Willingness to up-skill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
