Role Summary:
The IT Security Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls to protect Afrifanom’s information systems, applications, servers, and data.

Key Responsibilities:
This role involves monitoring security events, performing vulnerability assessments and authorized penetration tests, as well as responding to security incidents in collaboration with IT and software development teams. The IT Security Officer will review and enforce security policies, support secure software development practices, and ensure proper configuration of network, server, and database security.
Day-to-day responsibilities include managing access controls, conducting risk assessments, overseeing security awareness initiatives, and supporting compliance with relevant standards and regulations. The role requires close coordination with internal stakeholders and subsidiaries to maintain a robust security posture across the organization’s technology ecosystem.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Strong foundation in Information Technology, including systems administration and network fundamentals.
- Demonstrated experience in Cybersecurity, such as threat analysis, incident response, vulnerability management, and security auditing.
- Experience testing web applications, mobile applications, and APIs.
- Experience in functional testing and UAT.
- Familiarity with Software Development practices, including secure coding principles and collaboration with engineering teams.
- Proficiency in Programming (e.g., Python, Java, or similar languages) for automation, scripting, and security tooling.
- Working knowledge of Databases, including securing database access, configurations, and data protection.
- Experience with security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, OWASP) is highly beneficial.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, Security+, or equivalent are an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex security issues clearly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years relevant experience in IT security, software testing or a related technical role.
