Opportunity
DORAKO Fleet & Logistics is seeking for a qualified professional to occupy the role of an account officer who will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting financial reporting and control systems for the logistics operations of the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
The hired candidate will be responsible for the following:
1. Financial Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records
- Record all financial transactions (income, expenses, assets, liabilities)
- Manage general ledger entries and reconciliations

2. Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices (fuel, spare parts, maintenance, etc.)
- Verify and reconcile vendor statements
- Prepare and process payments in a timely manner
- Maintain proper documentation for all payables
3. Accounts Receivable
- Generate customer invoices for transport and equipment services
- Track payments and follow up on outstanding receivables
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accurate debtor records
4. Cash & Bank Management
- Manage petty cash and daily cash transactions
- Perform bank reconciliations regularly
- Monitor company bank accounts and cash flow
5. Payroll Support
- Assist in preparing payroll for drivers, operators, and staff
- Track overtime, allowances, and deductions
- Ensure statutory deductions are accurately processed
6. Budgeting & Cost Control
- Assist in preparing budgets for logistics operations
- Track and monitor expenses (fuel, maintenance, repairs, etc.)
- Identify variances and support cost control measures
7. Compliance & Taxation
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and financial regulations
- Prepare and file VAT, withholding tax, and other statutory returns
- Maintain proper financial documentation for audits
8. Asset & Inventory Accounting
- Maintain records of trucks, equipment, and fixed assets
- Track depreciation of assets
- Account for spare parts and inventory usage
9. Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports
- Assist in preparation of financial statements
- Provide financial data for management decision-making

Required Skills or Experience
Qualification Required & Experience
- At least a Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration, or a relevant tertiary education in business and finance.
- Excellent financial analytical skills.
- Must have excellent skills in the use of Tally ERP 9 or Quick Books
- Candidate must have at least three years (excluding national service) in an accounting/finance role. Candidates without these years of experience will be automatically rejected.
- Must be fluent in English, with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Candidate must be proactive, dedicated, performance-driven, and capable of working with limited supervision.
- The candidate must demonstrate experience as a team player.
- The candidate must be assertive, a good listener, critical thinker and self-motivated.
- Skillful at planning and organizing under complex conditions.
Duration
The position will be for a period of 1 year, subject to yearly renewal, and contingent on good performance, and availability of funding for the role.
