Role Overview

The Creative Lead is the strategic and creative head of the organization’s internal Digital Media and Marketing Department. You own the ministry's creative vision across every platform and every format. You are equally comfortable in a strategy meeting with leadership and in a review session with a video editor.

Your first and most important deliverable is content strategy, the framework that every piece of content produced by this team is measured against. Everything else flows from that.

You will build this team from the ground up, working alongside leadership to hire the roles beneath you. Once the team is in place, you hold the bar, set the direction, and ensure that the content produced is worthy of the audience the ministry has built.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own content strategy across all digital and social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, email, and podcast, covering brand voice, content pillars, posting cadence, campaign planning, and a rolling 90-day editorial calendar.
  • Lead the creative direction for all content produced by the team, ensuring every asset, video, graphic, copy, or audio, is spiritually aligned, brand-consistent, and strategically intentional.
  • Own the sermon repurposing framework. The founder produces significant teaching content. Your team's ability to extract, package, and distribute that content across platforms is the single highest-leverage activity in the department.
  • Manage and develop the team beneath you , Video Editor, Graphic Designer, Content Designer, Digital Marketing Strategist, and Social Media Manager. You set the standard, you run the weekly rhythm, and you protect the team's focus.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the digital team and organizational leadership.
  • Attend monthly leadership reviews. Present quarterly digital strategy. Flag risks and opportunities before they become problems.
  • Coordinate with other entities on content that requires their production capacity, events, original content, and a podcast. Your team handles the weekly output machine.
  • Ensure the brand guidelines for the organization are executed consistently.
  • Own monetization workstreams for all social media platforms

Required Skills or Experience

What You Bring

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in creative direction, content strategy, or digital marketing leadership, ideally in a media, ministry, nonprofit, or mission-driven context.
  • A demonstrable portfolio of content strategy work across social platforms, not just individual assets, but frameworks and systems that produced measurable growth.
  • Deep familiarity with Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram as platforms, including their algorithm behaviors, content formats, and monetization mechanics.
  • Strong people management experience. You have led a creative team before, and you know how to hold the standard without creating bottlenecks.
  • Spiritual alignment with the Christian faith and genuine understanding of ministry communication. This is not optional, the content you oversee speaks in the founder's voice to a global congregation. You must understand what that means.
  • A bias toward systems and documentation. You build workflows, not dependencies. When you leave a room, the team knows what to do next.

What Success Looks Like

  • What Success Looks Like at 30 Days: Content strategy document drafted and submitted to leadership for review. All platform admin access confirmed and documented. The recruitment process for the team roles is underway.
  • What Success Looks Like at 90 Days: Full team hired and onboarded. The first quarterly content calendar is live and executing. Brand guidelines reviewed and integrated into the team workflow. Weekly digital report rhythm established.
  • What Success Looks Like at 12 Months: Measurable growth across all five platforms.
  • Monetization workstreams optimized. The ministry's digital presence is coherent, consistent, and converting audience into donors, event attendees, and SOM students.
