Role Overview

The Social Media Manager is the daily presence of the ministry on every platform. You are the person who ensures content goes out on time, every time, in the right format, on the right channel, with the right caption. You manage the community that forms around that content, responding to comments, escalating sensitive conversations to pastoral leadership, and nurturing the engagement that turns a follower into a partner or an event attendee.

This role is not about producing content, the rest of the team does that. Your job is to deploy it strategically and then steward the community it builds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and publish all content across all social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, possibly using a scheduling tool, in alignment with the editorial calendar.
  • Monitor all platform comment sections daily, responding to general engagement, flagging spiritually sensitive conversations or prayer requests for pastoral follow-up, and moderating content that violates community standards.
  • Manage direct messages across platforms, routing enquiries to the necessary persons of contact.
  • Maintain a weekly engagement log, tracking comment volume, DM volume, and any notable community interactions and include a summary in the weekly digital report.
  • Coordinate with the Content Designer on caption scheduling and the Video Editor on platform-specific formatting requirements before content goes live.
  • Support event amplification during summits and other ministry events, live posting, story updates, real-time engagement.
  • Identify trending faith-based conversations and cultural moments relevant to the ministry's audience and flag them to the Creative Director as potential content opportunities.

Required Skills or Experience

What You Bring

  • Minimum 2 years of professional social media management experience, with demonstrable experience across Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Deep familiarity with how social media algorithms work and the community management practices that drive genuine engagement rather than surface-level metrics.
  • Excellent written communication, particularly for conversational responses that represent the ministry's voice accurately and with pastoral sensitivity.
  • Understanding of when to engage and when to escalate. Not every comment needs a response, and not every response should come from you. You need the discernment to know the difference.
  • High responsiveness and reliability. The community does not take days off, and neither does this role during active posting periods.
  • Faith alignment with the ministry's mission and a genuine understanding of the audience — who they are, what they need, and how the ministry speaks to them.
