Banking Applications Officer - BRAC Ghana Savings and Loans

PURPOSE

Banking Applications Officer is responsible for ensuring the effective operation, support, and continuous improvement of business-critical applications, particularly the core banking system (e.g., T24). The role serves as a bridge between business users and IT, ensuring that systems align with organizational needs, enhance operational efficiency, and support service delivery.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide daily operational support for the Temenos T24 core banking system 
• Responsible for the day-to-day support of T24 core banking application, run the daily close of business, generate all departmental reports
• Responsible for T24 Local Development & Customization (write routines), designs T24 Versions and Enquiry, design reports and requested by the users
• Responsible for MySQL DB administration, backup and restoration T24 Data Migration
• Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability 
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues within agreed SLAs 
• Provide T24 support to operators to resolve any COB problem (using Temenos approved models), escalate critical errors
• Configure and maintain T24 parameters, products, and modules 
• Support setup of accounts, loans, deposits, and customer data structures 
• Ensure system updates, patches, and upgrades are properly implemented 
• Maintain system documentation and configuration records
• Manage user creation, modification, and deactivation in T24 
• Enforce role-based access controls and segregation of duties 
• Monitor and ensure compliance with security policies and audit requirements.
• Log, track, and resolve incidents within SLA timelines 
• Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues 
• Support change requests, system enhancements, and releases 
• Participating in changing advisory processes
• Support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) 
• Validate system changes before deployment 
• Ensure smooth rollout of new features and fixes 
• Provide post-implementation support
• Support integration between T24 and other systems (e.g., mobile banking, APIs) 
• Monitor interfaces and resolve integration issues 
• Collaborate with developers and third-party vendors
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., Bank of Ghana guidelines) 
• Support internal and external audits with required system data and reports 
• Maintain proper logs and audit trails
• Identify opportunities to optimize system performance and processes.
• Recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and user experience. 
• Stay updated with new T24 features and banking technologies.

Safeguarding responsibilities

• Establish a safeguarding culture across all levels of the programme by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment. 
• Responsible assure team members are appropriately trained, supported and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and acted in accordance with the safeguarding policy and procedure. 
• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so. 

Required Skills or Experience

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

• Degree/Masters: Require at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering etc.
• Concentration / Major: Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering etc. 

EXPERIENCE (Including sector/industry)

• Strong expertise in T24 architecture, parameterization, upgrades, and integrations.
• Leading projects, vendor coordination (Temenos), and system enhancements
• Provide functional and technical support for Temenos T24 (Transact) core banking system across key modules such as accounts, deposits, loans, treasury, and customer onboarding.
• Minimum of 2 - 5 years relevant work experience across all technical and functional areas of T24.
• Act as liaison between business units and IT to translate business requirements into system configurations and functional specifications.
• Support end-to-end application lifecycle management, including requirement gathering, analysis, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
• Coordinate and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for core banking enhancements, patches, and upgrades.
• Conduct data validation, reconciliation, and system monitoring to ensure data integrity across banking operations.
• Ensure compliance with banking regulations, audit requirements, and internal control standards within all system processes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• Strong knowledge of Temenos T24 (Transact) core banking system 
• Proven work experience as a T24 Core Banking Technical Analyst
• Understanding of core banking modules (Accounts, Deposits, Loans, Customer Management, Treasury) 
• Knowledge of banking operations and financial products 
• Understanding of system integrations (API, middleware, payment switches, mobile & internet banking)
• Strong understanding of banking operations and processes 
• Ability to translate business needs into system requirements
