Lincoln Community School is one of the leading American International Schools in Africa and is an IB World School, fully authorized in all three levels of the International Baccalaureate program. Job Summary

Lincoln Community School is one of the leading International Schools in Africa and currently serves a population of approximately 560 students from about 60 different nationalities. The School is embarking on an exciting new program which is the inclusive Life Centered Education Program(LCE) which is designed to provide highly individualized learning pathways for students who require intensive, specialized support while remaining meaningfully connected to the wider school community.

To support the program, the school seeks to appoint two Learning and Inclusion Assistants to support the design and implementation of inclusive, flexible learning environments where all students experience belonging, access, independence, and growth.

The assistants will work in partnership with LCE teachers and the wider student support team, and will assist in translating the LCE vision into daily practice by ensuring students can meaningfully engage in learning through strengths-based, student-centered, and responsive supports.

Required Skills or Experience

QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in any field (required) (special education, education or a related field preferred)

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting students with moderate to intensive learning needs in an elementary school setting (preferred)
  • Demonstrable experience of practicing equity, inclusion in a learning environment
  • Familiarity with IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) is desirable
  • Experience of understanding and implementing behavior management strategies
  • An ability to understand and or a willingness to learn inclusive, strengths-based, and student-centered practices.
  • Demonstrable strong communication ( both written and oral) and interpersonal skills ( to be tested)
  • Ability to adapt tasks and instructions to meet individual needs
  • Good observation and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families
  • Technological skills -ability to use the Google suite. To be tested
