Would you like to work with financial inclusion and help finance financial sector companies in frontier and emerging markets? The Financial Inclusion team is expanding and is looking for an Investment Manager/Senior Investment Manager to join our investment team in Accra, Ghana to deepen our coverage of Francophone and Anglophone West Africa.
The financial inclusion team offers risk capital through equity, debt, and fund investments to financial sector companies like commercial banks, microfinance institutions, fintech, insurance, and leasing companies.
You will mainly be involved in investments within West Africa both supporting other team members, manage investment processes and establishing professional relationships with target companies in the sector.
We are seeking a results-oriented person with a strong interest in investments and active ownership. The successful candidate must have the capacity to work both in teams and independently and be a resource for others in our investment departments. The position will report to the Regional Director for West Africa and will also have a strong relationship with the Financial Inclusion Team based in Oslo, Norway.

Responsibilities and tasks
- Lead and participate in transaction teams through the full investment cycle from initial screening of opportunities, due diligence, execution of transactions to portfolio management and exit
- Sourcing and identifying new investment opportunities for Norfund, especially in Francophone West Africa
- Appraisal of investment proposals, with emphasis on valuation, risks and risk mitigation. Leading in due diligence processes.
- Deal structuring and negotiations
- Prepare internal investment documentation and present to investment committee and board with support from transaction team
- Manage project partnerships and co-investor relationships
- Represent Norfund at conferences and other external forums
- Financial analysis, valuation, modelling
- Updating portfolio management systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, economics, finance or equivalent with a strong academic record
- 7+ years of relevant work experience from investments and/or the financial sector
- Knowledge of equity and debt investments, including transaction processes, negotiations, and investment structures
- Leadership skills, particularly in guiding teams, driving processes, and managing stakeholders
- Experience from Norfund’s investment geographies, in particular Francophone West Africa is an advantage
- Strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy
- Result-oriented and with a structured, proactive and efficient work style
- Excellent communication skills in English and French, both written and verbal
