Job Description
Department: Fleet Operations / Auto Business Division
Reports To: Fleet Manager
Position Summary
The Chief Driver is a senior leadership position responsible for supervising all company drivers, ensuring adherence to traffic laws and safety regulations, coordinating fleet dispatch operations, and serving as the primary driver for executive management. This role combines excellent driving skills with strong leadership and supervisory capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
Driver Supervision and Management
- Supervise and coordinate all company drivers (pool and assigned)
- Conduct performance evaluations for all drivers
- Schedule driver assignments and rotations
- Monitor driver attendance, punctuality, and conduct
- Address driver performance issues and recommend disciplinary actions
- Serve as liaison between drivers and Fleet Manager
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all drivers comply with traffic laws and company policies
- Conduct regular safety briefings and training sessions
- Review driver logbooks and mileage reports
- Investigate traffic incidents and accidents
- Ensure drivers maintain valid licenses and required certifications
- Monitor driver behavior and adherence to safe driving practices
Vehicle Operations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Report vehicle defects and maintenance needs promptly
- Ensure vehicles are kept clean and well-maintained
- Monitor fuel consumption and report irregularities
- Assist with vehicle dispatch and scheduling
Training and Development
- Train new drivers on company policies and procedures
- Conduct defensive driving training
- Mentor junior drivers and improve driving skills
- Share best practices and road safety knowledge
Executive Driving Duties
- Serve as primary driver for Managing Director/CEO
- Transport executives safely and punctually to appointments
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Plan optimal routes considering traffic and schedules
Administrative Duties
- Maintain driver files and documentation
- Prepare driver performance reports
- Track driver violations and incidents
- Assist Fleet Manager with scheduling and logistics

Required Skills or Experience
License and Legal Requirements
- Valid Ghana Driver's License (Class B or higher)
- Clean driving record (no major violations in past 3 years)
- Police clearance certificate
Experience
- Minimum 10 years professional driving experience
- At least 3 years supervisory or leadership experience
- Experience driving executives or VIPs preferred
- Knowledge of Accra roads and Ghana highway network
Skills and Competencies
- Exceptional driving skills in various conditions

- Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and regulations

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving
- Good vision (corrected or uncorrected)
- Physical fitness to handle emergencies
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Salary: GHS 3000 net per month
