Job Summary

The IT Systems Manager at Ave Maria School is responsible for maintaining and improving the school’s technology systems to support teaching, learning, and administration. The role involves managing computer networks, internet systems, school databases, and digital resources; providing technical support to staff and students; and ensuring safe and efficient use of ICT within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Systems and Network Management

  • Manage and maintain the school’s network, Wi-Fi, and internet systems to ensure reliable connectivity.
  • Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot computers, printers, projectors, and other ICT devices.
  • Ensure all systems (hardware and software) are regularly updated and functioning properly.

2. Technical Support

  • Provide daily technical assistance to staff and learners for computers, tablets, and smart classroom devices.
  • Install and configure new hardware or software as required.
  • Keep an up-to-date log of IT issues, resolutions, and maintenance activities.

3. School Management Systems (SMS) and Databases

  • Manage the school’s management software.
  • Ensure data is entered accurately and backed up regularly.
  • Train and assist staff in using digital systems for reporting and record keeping.

4. ICT Integration and Training

  • Support teachers in using technology for classroom instruction (e.g., interactive boards, educational apps).
  • Conduct basic ICT literacy training for staff and learners.
  • Recommend ways to enhance teaching and learning through technology.

5. Cybersecurity and Data Protection

  • Maintain user accounts and passwords securely.
  • Protect the school’s systems from viruses, malware, and unauthorized access.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and digital safety guidelines.

6. ICT Equipment and Resource Management

  • Keep an updated inventory of all ICT assets.
  • Supervise the use of the computer lab and ensure proper handling of equipment.
  • Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and replacement of faulty equipment.

7. Budgeting and Procurement

  • Prepare and manage the ICT budget in consultation with management.
  • Research and recommend cost-effective ICT solutions.
  • Liaise with vendors and service providers for internet, software, and equipment.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in ICT management or support, preferably in a school environment.
  • Good knowledge of computer hardware, networking, and school software systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and educational platforms is an advantage.
