Coalition for Development of Northern Ghana (NORTHCODE-Ghana) is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) committed to improving the environment, lives, and livelihoods of vulnerable, disadvantaged, and excluded groups across Northern Ghana. Job Description
Background
Like many NGOs, NORTHCODE faces financial sustainability challenges due to donor dependency, limited income diversification, and funding uncertainties. To strengthen its resilience, NORTHCODE seeks the services of an experienced Organisational Development (OD) Consultant to guide the organisation through a structured OD process aimed at enhancing institutional effectiveness, financial sustainability, and long-term strategic planning.
Scope of Work
The consultant will:
- Conduct a comprehensive organizational assessment (SWOT).
- Engage key stakeholders to gather insights for organizational strengthening.
- Design and facilitate OD interventions, including workshops and coaching.
- Lead the development of a 3–5-year Strategic Plan with clear KPIs.
- Support change management and institutionalization of best practices.
- Prepare a technical proposal outlining key strategic focus areas for future funding.

Methodology
Applicants should propose a detailed methodology demonstrating a structured, participatory, and flexible approach to data collection, analysis, and implementation using mixed methods.
Timeline
- Months 1-2 : Organizational entry, assessment & stakeholder engagement
- Months 2-3: Design and facilitation of OD interventions
- Months 3-4: Strategic planning, change management & proposal writing
- Month 5-6: Final report and evaluation

Required Skills or Experience
Consultant Qualifications
- Degree in Organization Development, Business Administration, or related field (A masters degree will be an added advantage)
- Minimum of 5 years of proven OD consultancy experience
- Strong expertise in strategic planning and institutional strengthening
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and coaching skills
- Experience working with NGOs in Ghana or sub-Saharan Africa is an advantage
Evaluation Criteria
- Technical competence – understanding of OD principles and practices
- Methodology – clarity, relevance, and feasibility of proposed approach
- Experience & qualifications – relevance and adequacy of experience
- Communication skills – ability to engage stakeholders effectively
