The Headteacher/Administrator provides strategic and operational leadership for the school, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, discipline, and administration. This role combines educational leadership with effective management of staff, resources, and stakeholder relationships to create a safe, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment.

Job Responsibilities

Academic Leadership

  • Provide visionary leadership and direction to teaching staff to maintain high academic standards.
  • Develop and implement the school’s academic calendar, curriculum plans, and assessment systems.
  • Oversee lesson planning, classroom instruction, and teacher performance.
  • Promote innovative teaching methods and ensure continuous improvement in learning outcomes.
  • Supervise student performance and implement interventions where needed.

School Administration

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the school, including timetabling, logistics, and record keeping.
  • Ensure compliance with educational regulations and school policies.
  • Oversee admissions, registration, and student records management.
  • Supervise the maintenance of school facilities and ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Coordinate with external bodies such as the Ghana Education Service (GES) and other educational stakeholders.

Staff Management

  • Recruit, mentor, and appraise teachers and support staff.
  • Organize staff meetings, professional development sessions, and performance evaluations.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, and accountability among staff.
  • Resolve staff-related concerns professionally and fairly.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Prepare and manage the school’s annual budget in collaboration with the finance team or proprietor.
  • Ensure effective utilization of resources and cost control measures.
  • Supervise procurement, inventory, and maintenance of school assets.

Student Affairs and Discipline

  • Enforce discipline among students and promote a positive school culture.
  • Develop guidance and counselling programs to support students’ personal and academic growth.
  • Address disciplinary matters promptly and fairly.

Stakeholder and Community Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with parents, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and the wider community.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about student progress, school events, and policies.
  • Represent the school at meetings, events, and public functions.

 

 

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or administrative role.
  • Strong knowledge of Ghana Education Service (GES) curriculum and standards.
  • Proven ability to manage teams and drive academic excellence.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, discipline, and professionalism.
