Role
The IT Systems Support Officer is responsible for providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and support for software and website management-related issues within the University College. He/she will ensure the smooth functioning of IT systems and deliver timely solutions to end-user problems. We are therefore seeking a dedicated and highly skilled IT Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in information technology, with expertise in computer systems and software applications.
He/She will be responsible for providing exceptional technical support, ensuring optimal performance of all IT systems and services as well as troubleshooting a variety of software issues and implementing solutions that helps in operational efficiency. This role requires problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining and improving our IT infrastructure.
Job Functions
The IT systems Support Officer’s main duties and responsibilities shall include the following:
Technical Support
- Install, configure, and maintain computer software, and networks.
- Troubleshoot software issues, including desktops, laptops, printers, and servers.
- Provide technical support to users, including troubleshooting and resolving IT-related problems.
- Ensure security of IT systems, including data backup, antivirus protection, and access controls.
- Manage and monitor network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
Records
- Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, licenses, and warranties.
- Document or incidence, resolutions, preventive measures and user guides to enhance resource availability.
Planning
- Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and security.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Plan and execute IT projects, including upgrades, migrations, and installations and all other IT needs of the organization.

Required Skills or Experience
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Proven experience in IT support or administration.
- Strong technical knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networks.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Knowledge of network protocols, security principles, and best practices.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified IT Professional. (MCITP) are a plus.
- Network knowledge: LAN / WLAN / switching / routing / firewall management
Skills
- Proven experience in IT systems support.
