JOB POSTING : ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN-UNDERGROUND
DEPARTMENT : ENGINEERING
STRATUM OF ROLE : I L
EMPLOYMENT STATUS : PERMANENT

ROLE PURPOSE
The Electrical Technician – Underground reports to the Electrical Supervisor – Underground and is accountable for general low and medium voltage electrical maintenance and installations such as, Substations, Medium/Low voltage pumps maintenance, LV pumps installation for underground dewatering, establishing power supply and maintenance on Jumbo, Solo, Diamond drill rigs, compressors, installation of 1000V distribution boards, 1000/240V lighting DB, 1000V jumbo starters and 1000/440 Volts ventilation fans, Maintenance of conveyor and rock breakers, MV voltage switching and breaker maintenance in a safe and compliant manner as instructed during maintenance of the Underground Electrical infrastructure.
Key Accountabilities
- Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
- Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
- Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
- Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan.
- Accept personal responsibility for his/her own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by his work.
- Work compliantly with the requirement of government of Ghana Agencies, environmental, health and safety legislation and AGAG regulation.
- Comply and follow the operating procedures and environmental rules for the performance of assigned job.
- Must correct, or report to supervisor any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions as well as make suggestions to improve any aspect of environmental management.
- Interface with contractors as directed and or construction team regarding electrical work tasks for project work and planned works that support the overall work plan, schedule, and expectations.
- Attend training, development, and performance improvement training as required.
- Execute electrical refurbishment and maintenance work items as tasked – compliant and in accordance with all relevant regulations from Government of Ghana and AGAG
- Gather information for the Electrical Supervisor – Underground for reporting performance.
- Execute daily pre-start checks of equipment/tools prior to leaving workshop. Escalate and report any anomalies.
- Assess all equipment required for completion of tasked work, update checklist, and transport all tools necessary for task completion.
- Recognize any machine and electrical equipment anomalies that would indicate requirement for maintenance, report and escalate.
- Provide data and information to support the Maintenance Planner/Electrical Supervisor to close out work orders in SAP on completion of tasked work for all underground and maintenance activities.
- Execute work in a timely manner.
- Carry out work cost effectively.
- Stop any electrical equipment operation if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used and escalate to your supervisor.

Qualification, Experience And Technical Competencies
Qualification
- Minimum of Electrical Engineering Technician Certificate Part II or City and Guilds electrical certificate part II or associate degree or technical diploma in Engineering Technology or related field.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in electrical technical roles, preferably in the mining industry.
Technical Competencies
- Fully literate and numerate.
- Technical proficient in electrical equipment and systems works.
- Knowledge in troubleshooting faults and repair of electrical systems.
- Possess good communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail.
