Role Overview:

The Service Engineer provides technical support and hands-on training to local engineers. This role involves troubleshooting, conducting repairs, leading teams in major reworks, and ensuring all work adheres to Caterpillar and Mantrac standards. Additionally, the Expatriate Engineer plays a key role in warranty assessments, customer support, and new machine assembly projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on technical support and training for local engineers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment on customer sites and in workshops.
  • Deliver detailed technical reports and failure analyses.
  • Ensure all repairs follow Caterpillar procedures and standards.
  • Lead and supervise teams for major repairs, rebuilds, and machine assembly projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, including the use of LOTO equipment.
  • Conduct inspections using Cat Inspect after job completion.
  • Oversee warranty claims, establish root causes of failures, and ensure repairs are correctly executed.
  • Plan and manage new machine assemblies, including coordinating logistics and non-Cat items.
  • Work closely with service management, product support teams, and customers to ensure service excellence.
  • Promote all dealership capabilities, including Parts, Service, Equipment Sales & Multi-brand.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience working with heavy plant and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of Caterpillar earthmoving equipment and systems.
  • NVQ (level 3 or above) qualification is required.
  • Relevant trade qualification (e.g., City & Guilds or equivalent certification).
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for machine and engine systems.
  • Ability to lead and train small teams of engineers.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Willingness to relocate to Ghana and work in various Mantrac territories across Africa (Relocation support available).
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
