Job Description

Duty Station : Mankessim

PURPOSE

The Area Accounts Manager will review all bills, vouchers and other supporting documents of outlets (branches and service points) in the area to ensure they are in line with BRAC procurement and finance policies and guidelines

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review all bills, certificates, vouchers and supporting documents of outlets in the area and ensure they follow BRAC procurement and finance guidelines.
  • Ensure effective payments of monthly salary and statutory deductions of area and outlet staff and ensure the same are captured correctly in the accounting system.

  • Maintain Fixed Asset Register for the Area Office and ensure same is maintained in outlets by Accounts Officers. Ensure appropriate entries are made in the accounting system for all Fixed Asset acquisitions, transfers, depreciation, and disposals. 
  • To provide required financial support for Accounts Officers of outlets and escalate issues to the regional office.
  • Set objectives and KPIs for Accounts Officers in the area and appraise them based on actual performance.
  • Provide training and mentorship to Accounts Officers of outlets in the Area.
  • To liaise with the internal and external auditors and provide necessary support to them by supplying the bill voucher, register, report etc. as the auditors require.
  • Manage the treasury function of outlets in the Area and ensure the availability of funds for operational activities.
  • Perform all finance-related tasks of the Area Office.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and tax laws for the Area Office and outlets in the area.
  • Prepare financial reports for the area for monthly performance review.
  • Ensure daily and month-end cash counts are conducted for all outlets in the area.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential. 
  • Any other duty assigned by a superior.

Safeguarding responsibilities:

  • Establish a safeguarding culture across all levels of the programme by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring team members are appropriately trained, and supported and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and actioned by the safeguarding policy and procedure.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, and encourage others to do so.

Required Skills or Experience

EXPERIENCE (Including sector/industry)

  • A minimum of first degree or its equivalent in Accounting or similar disciplines
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in accounting in the financial services industry.
  • Proficient in the use of MS 365 Office, and T24 software
  • Previous experience as an Area Accountant and a Chartered Accountant will be an added advantage.

  • Willingness to work under pressure.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in Accounting/Banking and Finance/Related Disciplines: Concentration / Major
  • Professional Certificate/Postgraduate Degree in Accounting/Finance will be an added advantage. Finance, Accounting
