AGROPAL Farms Limited (AFAL) is an agribusiness seeking the transformation of agriculture through sustainable and commercial production of high-valued crops particularly fruits for industrial processing. As a company, AFAL is focused on large production of high value crops through a mix of nucleus farms/estates and viable outgrower schemes. The key value chain of interest for AFAL mangoes, pineapples, and papaya.

Opportunity

As a growing and dynamic company, AFAL is seeking new talents to complement its existing team with its mission of developing commercial farm projects in Ghana. Given that, AGROPAL is seeking to hire a self-motivated, enterprising, analytical, and energetic candidate for the role of a Business Developer. The role has been necessitated by the company’s quest to secure funding and partnership opportunities for its planned commercial projects. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifies new business opportunities, business partners, and markets for the growth of the company.
  • Lead in fundraising activities from private and public sources.

  • Monitors and analyses relevant economic, financial, social, and other market trends/dynamics including market preferences
  • Conduct a  market analysis for the business's core market, assessing major industry trends affecting the business and describe what impact these trends may have on the business
  • Provide insights and recommendations for product development, market positioning, and pricing strategies.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve business targets and increase revenue
  • Prepare regular reports on business performance/development, market trends, sales performance, and potential growth opportunities.
  • Lead in developing weekly, monthly, and annual capital raise plans.
  • Ensure implementation plans are achieved at the agreed costs, quality, and within budget. 
  • Prepare performance reports presenting them to the project manager and managing director.
  • Any other applicable duty assigned to you by the managing director.
  • Status of employment 
  • Full-time (on annual contract renewal basis based on excellent performance) 

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications Required & Experience

The required candidate must demonstrate or possess the following qualifications/expertise/skills: 

  • Master’s degree or higher degree Finance, Economics, Business Administration/Entrepreneurship, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management or related field. 
  • At least seven (7) years of professional or sector/industry experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in agricultural financing, partnerships, and trade. 
  • At least 7 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in organizational leadership, management, and operations. 
  • Skillful in opportunity identification, partnership building, and deal making. 
  • Experience conducting market research, including analysing and synthesizing research reports and conducting primary research.
  • Proficiency with analytical and presentation tools.
  • Excellent use of excel in budgeting and financial forecasts. 
  • Excellent skills in proposal or business plan development. 
  • Exceptional communication and negotiating skills, with a proactive and problem-solving attitude.
  • Excellent skills in research/feasibility assessments. 
  • Ability to pragmatically solve problems, plan a course of action using analytical,
  • conceptual, strategic, and forward-thinking abilities to achieve effective
  • results.
  • Ability to recognize, react and adjust to rapidly changing conditions and to lead the resources in appropriate direction with cohesiveness and a sense of urgency
  • Ability to effectively lead and build a team, communicate a vision, make timely and transparent decisions, solve problems, and manage conflict.
  • Coalition-building capabilities, external networking, and experience in
  • developing strategic partnerships.
  • Demonstrate strong industry connections. 
  • Fluency in English – excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
