Occupational Hygiene Communication and Stakeholder Contact
- Communicate new developments to the operation to increase the effectiveness of the monitoring programs and ensure staff are conversant with the latest techniques and regulations.
- Provide technical training and informational presentations to keep staff and management aware of Hygiene and Occupational Health concerns, programs and regulatory issues.
Occupational Hygiene Reporting
- Compile summary statistics and reports based on conducted assessments and measurements.
- Prepare OH reports for site, as directed by the H&S Manager
Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
- Bachelors’ degree in the Sciences or related field.
- Advanced Certificate in Occupational Hygiene is preferable.
Additional Knowledge
- Sound knowledge of Safety and Industrial Hygiene Legislative requirements.
- Solid understanding of Safety Management Systems related to Occupational Hygiene.
- Foundational knowledge of risk management processes.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ work experience as an Industrial Hygienist in a Mining and/or Heavy industry environment.
Technical Skills
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and report writing skills.
- Sound planning and organizing skills.
- Proficient computer literacy skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Sound information monitoring and data capture skills.
- A minimum of Driver’s License B is required.

- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to work in confined spaces and will be exposed to extreme vibration.
- Work Environment: The employee is required to operate in a safety-critical environment with hazardous materials and potentially harmful/dangerous machinery and equipment. The employee is frequently exposed to noise of more than 85 decibels, and to fumes, high-temperature hazardous materials, sharp edges, dust, pinch-points, vibration, slippery surfaces etc. The incumbent will occasionally lift heavy materials and/or operate heavy machinery.
