The purpose of this role is to provide quality assurance support to the production process.

Results / Accountabilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections and assessments of incoming raw materials, intermediate products, and finished tomato-based products to verify conformity with established quality standards.
  • Perform batch-level testing, including sensory evaluation, pH testing, viscosity measurement, and color analysis, to ensure products meet predetermined specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, HACCP) by conducting regular audits, inspections, and verification of critical control points within the production process.
  • Collaborate with production teams to implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify and document defects, inconsistencies, and non-conformities in products, materials, or processes.
  • Collect, record, and maintain accurate and comprehensive data related to quality control tests, inspections, and analysis. Prepare detailed reports on testing outcomes and trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements aimed at enhancing product quality, optimizing efficiency, and reducing waste.
  • Perform root cause analysis to determine underlying factors contributing to quality issues. Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality control procedures, food safety practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience:

  • Minimum HND in food science, Food Technology, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in quality control or quality assurance within the food manufacturing industry, preferably with a focus on tomato-based products.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, HACCP) and quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with testing methods specific to tomato products, including sensory evaluation and laboratory tests.

Preferred skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Analytical mindset with the capability to identify patterns and trends from data.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with production teams and suppliers.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to drive process improvements.
