Job Description

The School is seeking to appoint a Maker’s Space Assistant who will work together with and under the direction of, the MakersSpace Coordinator, ES STEAM and MS/HS Design teachers to organize and coordinate a collaborative and respectful environment which can be used flexibly by all of the school’s stakeholders (students, staff and parents).

Within this environment, all voices and expertise are valued in order to enhance students’ academic and social/emotional learning.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teachers who want to make use of MakersSpace by assisting with preparation and resource allocation.
  • Responsible for actively participating in all class activities.
  • Assist users of all ages in using tools, equipment, material and software in the MakerSpace; offering users one-on-one instruction and training on MakerSpace resources.
  • Participate in ensuring that the organization and scheduling of the Makers Space is fair and equitable to all.
  • Promote the MakersSpace as a potential space for all members of the community.
  • Ability to communicate positively with all members of the community.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Degree in any field but preferably in any of the STEM subjects.
  • Desired experience in design or other relevant fields, such as robotics, computer design, or carpentry.

Experience and Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Well-equipped with technical design and practical skills such as working with wood and electrical tools.
  • Experience working with children (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in making prototypes /models.
  • Ability to learn new things quickly.
  • Experience in using Google Suite.
