To create more impact we need reinforcement for our West Africa team to operate our land cover mapping and deforestation monitoring engine and provide technical assistance to our Client Relations officer for West Africa based in Ghana.
Position: full time (0.8 - 1 FTE)
Location: Accra, Ghana / Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire

You
We are onboarding more and more clients from the palm oil cocoa and rubber industries, so we need to expand operations. Since we want to be close to our clients we are looking for a geodata specialist located in Côte d’ Ivoire or Ghana.
We are looking for someone with at least 2 years of experience with a background in (geo)information science, environmental science or something similar. You will help us operate our land cover mapping and deforestation detection engine and validate deforestation results. Experience in the palm oil, cocoa, or rubber sector is a plus.
Besides operational tasks, you will be part of the support team, providing technical support and assistance to our clients at local business hours.

Tasks include:
- Preprocessing & ingesting spatial data: eg cleaning up polygons;
- Processing and visualising spatial data;
- Making graphs and maps as input for marketing, sales & reporting;
- Actively look for and collect supply chain and validation data;
- Create training data for our Machine Learning classification models;
- Collect field data (coordinate and join field missions);
- Technical customer support;
- Giving and Assisting webinars on site about our products and how to handle our data with QGIS.
You are familiar with and have experience working with GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS, FME). Experience with programming in Python (Jupyter Notebook) is a plus as well as knowledge of Earth Observation.
You will work closely with our Data Science team, located in The Netherlands, Spain and Bolivia and with our West Africa Client Relations officer, located in Accra.
You are independent and are not afraid to take charge of important decisions. You take and feel responsibility for your projects. You have good communication skills, both written and verbal (French (must) & English). You are creative and dare to speak your mind.
