A small reputable Women-led NGO dedicated in advancing Women Rights and Agency in Society at large seeks to recruit qualified applicants to occupy the position of Accounts Assistant.

Reports to:  Financial Controller

Employment Status:  One year Contract, (40 hours/week)

 

Position Summary

To assist in the management the finances and other programme resources in a manner consistent with IASs and to ensure that all programme staff including Trustees follow laid down procedures as detailed in the financial management procedures and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
This post is aimed at aiding the financial controller to improving the financial performance management capacity, financial policies, procedures and system, by specifically attending to the following:

Financial Performance Management

  • Produce monthly cashbooks to aid the financial controller produce qualitative management accounting reports, including all financial aspects of the organization that is I&E, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and Capital Expenditure monitoring.
  • Liaising with programme staffs to ensured timely retirement of floats.
  • Ensuring that all request are properly done, approved and seek advice from financial Controller regarding budget line of request.
  • Raising cheques and preparation of payment vouchers for approved expenditures.

Financial Policies, Procedures and Systems;

  • Assist in reviewing existing financial policies and procedures, document and advice on changes necessary to achieve best practice compliance.
  • Assist in implementing these policies and procedures once the Board of Trustees approve same.
  • Assist preparing annual accounts and maintain records for the annual statutory audit.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A bachelors degree in Accounting or commerce (3 years minimum experience in a similar position)
  • HND in Accountancy (5 year experience minimum in a similar position)
  • CA (Ghana) part 2 or ACCA foundation level
  • Experience working with women
