Job Description

Marie Stopes International Ghana (MSIG), established in 2006, is an affiliate of MSI Reproductive Choices and one of the largest specialized Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) organizations in Ghana. MSIG complements the Ministry of Health in delivering high-quality, affordable general health and SRH services across the country.

MSIG is seeking passionate, client-focused, and experienced individuals to join our clinical team in Accra, Kumasi, or Takoradi as a Medical Officer. This role is critical to our mission of improving access to Family Planning (FP) and SRH services, especially for underserved communities.

About the Role

As a Medical Officer at MSIG, you will serve as the clinical lead within your assigned centre, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality, client-centred sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. Your role will encompass direct clinical care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of clients across a broad spectrum of SRH and general health needs, such as family planning, post-abortion care, cervical cancer screening, and STI management.

You will work in close collaboration with the Centre Manager and the Head of Clinics to uphold clinical excellence and safety standards. This includes mentoring and supervising clinical staff, ensuring adherence to MSI and Ghana Health Service protocols, and fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement.

You will also play a key role in optimizing operational efficiency by supporting resource planning, stock management, and service delivery coordination.

Beyond clinical duties, you will contribute to client satisfaction by promoting respectful, empathetic, and confidential care, responding to feedback, and ensuring that services are inclusive and accessible to all, including adolescents and persons with disabilities. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving performance, maintaining compliance, and achieving the centre’s service delivery and sustainability goals.

What You’ll Do

As a Medical Officer, you will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of high-quality, client-centered sexual and reproductive health services at MSIG Centres. You will provide direct clinical care including diagnosis, treatment, and management of clients across a range of services such as family planning, post-abortion care, STI management, cervical cancer screening, and general consultations.

Working closely with the Centre Manager and Head of Clinics, you will ensure that all services meet MSIG and Ghana Health Service standards for safety, quality, and client dignity. Your leadership will be essential in maintaining clinical excellence, mentoring staff, and supporting the smooth operation of the centre to achieve service delivery targets and enhance client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a full range of SRH services including FP, PAC, CAC, STI management, cervical cancer screening, and general consultations.
  • Ensure adherence to MSI and Ghana Health Service clinical protocols and infection prevention standards.
  • Provide compassionate, respectful, and confidential care to all clients.
  • Mentor and supervise clinical staff to maintain high standards of care.
  • Collaborate with the Centre Manager to optimize clinic operations, stock management, and service delivery.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, audits, and continuous professional development.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support data-driven decision-making.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBChB or equivalent medical degree.
  • Full registration and valid license with the Medical and Dental Council, Ghana.
  • Minimum 2 years post-housemanship experience, preferably in SRH or women’s health.
  • Strong clinical judgment and emergency response skills.
  • Experience in mentoring, teamwork, and client counseling.
