The Communication Officer at GIZ Ghana will be tasked with supporting the TVET component of the Network for Inclusive Economic Development (NIED) including the Ghana Skills Development Initiative (GSDI) to contribute to the programme’s objectives and indicators by managing all internal and external communication needs arising from team members or partners.

Assignment Period: Contract ends on 30.09.2022
Location: Accra, Greater Accra
Tasks
- Coordinates, implements, monitors, and reports on the GSDI communication strategy and operational visibility plan including its budget and systematically plans and manages communication (incl. public relation activities)
- Develops communication instruments and assists in introducing innovation and change for and with GSDI staff as well as partners, according to the developed communication strategy (e.g. manuals, guides, fact sheets, success stories, press releases, studies, technical publications);
- Ensures standards according to developed and agreed guidelines for GSDI and GIZ communication work
- Cooperates and consults with other GSDI partners, especially EU, SECO and COTVET;
- Cooperates with GIZ’s (Ghana and HQ) Corporate Communications Unit, managing the exchange of information on communication (among other things by contributing topics, trends, risks, research on information and by involving officers responsible for the contract and cooperation, e.g. for media enquiries from Germany, planning and coordinating of journalist tours, developing of draft papers for internal media);
- Manages the exchange of information between the different stakeholders in this regard;
- Manages all online (incl social) media for GSDI including the Website; manages content and provides input as well as editorial support; advises on the online presentations of GSDI and NIED; coordinates activities and ensures quality with external communication service providers (e.g. appraisers, agencies, journalists, photographers, trainers, translators, printers, graphic designers);
- Reports on internal and external communication activities to NIED management
- Advises GSDI team members and partners on communication measures to improve the image of TVET (e.g. skills competitions, campaigns, fairs, role model approaches, guidance and counselling activities) in the country and manages respective subcontractors
