SNV has been present in Ghana since 1992. Among SNV Ghana's Agriculture Projects is the HortiFresh programme.
This is a 4-year sector programme (2018-2021) funded by the Dutch Embassy in Accra. The aim of the programme is “A sustainable and internationally competitive vegetable and fruit sector that contributes to inclusive economic growth, food and nutrition security”.

The programme will contribute to three major areas that have been identified and that are in line with Ghana’s development policy:  a competitive and innovative high-value fruit and vegetable sector; an inclusive and sustainable fruit and vegetable sector and a conducive business climate that facilitates the development of the fruit and vegetable sector. The project’s structure combines an overall private sector-led sector development approach, through the establishment of a Business Platform, as well as strong business-led initiatives through Innovation Funds,
Agronomic Services Fund and commercial loans. The West Africa HortiFresh is being implemented by a consortium of Wageningen UR (CDI www.wur.eu/cdi), SNV (www.snv.org), Advance Consulting, SENSE and Resilience.The programme is currently seeking applicants for a full-time position for Fund ManagerThe position is based in Accra, Ghana

Job Description

Position Summary

The Fund Manager is responsible for overseeing funds which are part of the HortiFresh program (Innovation Fund, Youth Fund, Cluster Fund, Financial products). As all funds have been disbursed, duties include the follow-up of companies as well as the monitoring of the projects’ progress.

Under the supervision of the HortiFresh Program Manager, the key responsibilities of the Fund Manager include:

  •  The Fund Manager is responsible for transparent reporting, due diligence and financial tracking of  the Funds.
  •  Monitoring and assisting the implementation of the awarded co-financing projects, visit project activities and ensure that narrative and financial reports are on time and in accordance with the HortiFresh fund manual.
  • In addition, the fund manager will be responsible for HortiFresh contribution to the Ghana Green Label activities as well as liaise with FDA, EPA, GSA and the private sector on issues related to food safety and pesticide use.
  • Contribute to the documentation of the program’s achievements in terms of: annual planning and reporting, reports, publications, brochures and/or guidelines.

Qualifications

  •  Master’s Degree in one of the following: business administration, finance, economics, accounting, agriculture and/or related field.
  •  Minimum 5 years work experience in agricultural projects, preferably in the vegetables sector.
  •  Experience in quality assurance systems and certification of agricultural companies (e.g. Global GAP, BRC, Ghana Green Label).
  •  Have relevant experience in fund management.
  •  Have experience in the horticulture or related sector.
  •  Knowledge of certification and/or food safety is an advantage.
  •  Have experience in business development.
  •  Be a team player.
  •  Have strong communication and negotiation skills.
  •  Be good in writing reports.
  •  Ability to speak French is an advantage.
  •  Excellent skills in using computer Microsoft office applications such as Word and Excel.
