Purpose of the position:

  • To contribute to the attainment of the organization's access to water, improve sanitation and hygiene objectives, ensuring that WASH facilities constructed meet the standards and contribute to child wellbeing outcomes.

  • Communicate World Vision's Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Design and supervise the construction of water facilities from groundwater and surface water sources.

  • Provide technical support for the planning, coordination and monitoring of all constructional and civil engineering works.

  • Schedule and attend site meetings with contractors on weekly or monthly basis and identify and resolve construction problems as they develop.

  • Prepare payment certificates for all constructional works contracted.

  • Review BOQs and submit for discussions among the technical team.

  • Ensures that construction technician and contractors maintain quality standards and construct to specifications.

  • Visit project sites and submit weekly and monthly reports on the progress of work .

  • Work with partners on innovations in the WASH sectors.

  • Supervise the pumping test and submit monthly report on the performance of the gen set, submersible pump and other equipment

  • Ensure the operations are conducted in the best interest of the Company. 

  • Maintain effective and positive working relationship with others, cooperative and supportive team player, and work with a variety of people.

 

Other Competencies/Attributes:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to work under pressure and without supervision

  • Must be proactive with a high level of initiative, innovation, drive and a strong team player with interpersonal skills.

  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.

  • Attend and participate/lead in daily devotions.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Educational level required: BSc. or HND Civil Engineering, Building Technology with 3 years field experience in building or civil works.

  • Technical Training qualifications required: Professional technical skill desired (certification?)

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in civil engineering, water supply engineering or construction industry. Working knowledge of geology may be an advantage.

 

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work Environment: Field-based

  • Travel: 40-50% Business Related Domestic/international travel is required.

  • On call: 10%
