Pether Solutions development team is looking to hire an associate developer to advance our architectural strategies and innovation efforts. Ideal candidate is someone who is tech-savvy, passionate to learn and adopt new technologies, understands web development technology stack, emerging web standards and able to turn concepts to life. The selected individual will be part of talented engineering team working in a fast-paced and outcome focused environment.
As part of the Software Development and Deployment Team, the Database Developer will be part of a dynamic and growing team responsible for data architecture, database development, data integration, data quality management, and information governance. We are seeking independent and critical thinkers who have excellent organization, technical, communication and analytical skills.
You will be responsible for analyzing, developing, testing, improving and maintaining new and existing databases and ETL processes to maintain data integrity across systems. We are seeking a versatile developer with a solid understanding of OLAP and OLTP database design concepts as well as demonstrated experience and interest in designing and documenting database structures using modeling tools.
As part of the Software Development and Deployment Team, you will work closely with application development teams to ensure sound architecture and system consistency. Projects will include database modeling based on requirements specifications, database design and documentation, APIs development, development of OLTP databases, reverse-engineering and documenting existing databases, data management projects, and working with stakeholders within and outside of Pether Solutions Corporation on data governance initiatives. The ideal candidate will be an inquisitive and self-motivated team player who enjoys analyzing and solving problems in a complex data environment.

Duties:
- Analyze and document existing database systems
- Create logical and physical data models
- Work with technical leads and business analyst to implement business requirements
- Develop efficient database solutions that meet approved requirements
- Conduct database design reviews and help implement best practices as part of the SDLC
- Develop technical and training manuals
- Analyze and document transactional source systems and existing data warehouse environment
- Develop data structures and reports to meet feature requirements
- Conduct performance tuning / analysis / optimization of reports and SQL
- Ensure data best practices are used during development activities
- Develop efficient data warehouse solutions that meet approved requirements
- Evaluate new technologies as part of modernizing the data management
- Implement improvements to support the future technical direction as new technologies become available and/or as organizational needs expand
- Investigate new data sources and design an integration strategy to include them in the Central Database platform
- Maintain and troubleshoot issues with existing analytic and transactional database solutions
- Proactively establish and maintain appropriate levels of protection for business continuity, security, and data privacy
- Create and maintain data dictionaries
- Implement improvements to support the future technical direction as new technologies become available and/or as organizational needs expand
- Proactively monitor project schedules, timelines, and key metrics, and assure projects are prioritized and meet required deadlines
- Contribute to data governance and data quality improvement initiatives
- Perform data quality analysis and develop reports on key data quality metrics
- Participate in scrum development meetings in a data governance or database development role
- Develop and document Database Access APIs for developpers
- Perform code and design reviews
- Utilize source control for all development
- Special projects and duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in dimensional modeling and relational database design
- Significant experience with relational database platforms (MS SQL, Postgres, Progress Open Edge, etc.)
- Experience working with data integration tools
- Experience using data modeling software
- Strong fundamental SQL programming skills, including SQL queries and the ability to tune complex queries for maximum performance, functions, and stored procedures; leveraging transactional databases, relational data marts and data warehouses
- Understanding of project management and experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams
- Self-motivated and directed
- Ability to review and critique technical implementation produced by other technical resources
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
- Strong customer service orientation
- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
