The Environmental Health and Safety Manager shall provide site safety leadership, ensure facility compliance with corporate safety standards, implement safety directives, improve safety performance, and ensure facility safety policies and procedures are aligned with governmental regulations.

Duties

  • Maintaining the Base Safety Bulletin Board
  • Distribution of relevant safety information
  • Organizing and holding monthly safety meetings
  • Conducting regular base safety audits
  • Advise the General Manager on a weekly basis, of base accidents, Incidents and Occurrences, plus procedures, equipment etc. that adversely affect health and safety if the Base Manager or supervisor does not address.
  • Assist in maintaining, distributing and/or monitoring SMS supplies and literature.
  • Ensure effective monthly Safety meetings are held and well attended (although others may lead and minute them).
  • Attend Safety Training Courses as required.
  • Be aware of work done and associated hazards at the base, and the precautions in place to control them (if not familiar, he must educate himself through the General Manager or a local consultant)

  • Act as an advisor to the Base Manager (and Director Safety) in making management aware of safety concerns.
  • Act as ombudsman for Base staff, communicating to the Base Manager or Lead Engineer any HSE concerns. If not satisfied, the Safety Manager then advises the General Manager.
  • Ensure that crews are advised on safety-related issues in a timely fashion, including a system to advice flight crew of pertinent information (e.g. rig moves, rig NDB status, etc.).
  • Ensure Immediate Response, Emergency Response and Emergency Demobilisation Plans are adequate and understood.

Education, Experience and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific field required.
  • Significant experience, including supervisory experience, required.
  • Relevant HSE certification/qualification required.
  • Facility Management
  • Significant experience, including supervisory experience, required
