OVERVIEW:
The Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) is a U.S. Department of State security assistance program focused on building international peacekeeping capacity worldwide in close collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).
Our client has immediate availability for a Senior PSO Staff Mentor position in Ghana. In this role, you will serve as principal mentor to the Team Lead for the GAF and their GAF-led staff training.
This is a mission critical, high visibility position. As a mentor, you will directly support the Peace Operations Training and Assistance in Ghana, and the Team Lead
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Senior PSO Staff Mentor will mentor, advise and assist GAF trainers conducting staff training to battalions deploying to MONUSCO and UNMISS IAW with learning objectives and outcomes specified in the SOW
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The Trainer shall have the following education, experience, and military background:
- Minimum of a BA/ BS Degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of fifteen (15) cumulative years of experience in military operations to include combat arms battalion/brigade level staff or as a civilian trainer of U.S. or foreign military staff..
- Experience as senior trainer to a foreign security partner with directly related experience in capacity building and unit-level assessments.
- Thorough understanding of international human rights and peacekeeping mission mandates, including gender respect/parity, protection of civilians (POC), and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA).
- (Preferred) Battalion and/or brigade staff experience while deployed to a combat, peacekeeping, or other contingency operation, U.S. or foreign military.
- (Preferred) Ability to fill the role of TL if required to best support the goals and tasks of the GPOI Program.
- (Preferred) Military Education Level 3 or 4 (Command and General Staff College or equivalent).
- (Preferred) UN Peacekeeping Operations experience
