Tasks and activities

  • Developing and implementing the Communications and External Relations Strategy which:
    • identifies and manages political, public policy, stakeholder and reputational risks
    • builds and maintains Aker Energy's brand and reputation in Ghana
    • Supports and leverages the benefits of Aker Energy's CSR activities in Ghana

  • Supporting Country Manager and Senior Management both in Accra and Oslo in:
    • effective stakeholder engagement to achieve corporate strategy and objectives
    • building and maintaining government and broader political and non-political stakeholder relationships for the identification and management of political risk, stakeholder risks and regulatory/public policy issues that could impact the viability of the organisations interests
  • Providing communications and stakeholder management advice and support for company's crisis management strategies and plans.

Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in business, journalism, communications or related field.
  • At least 10 years' experience in strategic communications, media relations and/or public affairs for a major multinational or national organization.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry is a plus.
  • Proven media relations skills and relationships with top-tier media; experience as a corporate spokesperson.
  • Proven networking and influencing skills.
  • High level of diplomacy, tact and perceptiveness.
  • Strategic and proactive.

Tasks and activities

  • To provide legal and regulatory advice and support to country management and staff. Areas of particular focus may be:
    • Ghanaian legal and regulatory issues
    • Petroleum law and subsidiary legislation
    • Contracts with suppliers and subcontractors
    • Land and communities
    • Environmental legislation and obligations
  • Focal point for Ghana joint venture and service contractor parties as required.
  • Responsible for identifying legal risks and proposing appropriate control frameworks to mitigate the risks to ensure business continuity.
  • Managing external counsel to handle company legal issues in Ghana, as required.

Qualifications and experience

  • A good university degree in law with a preference for a Masters in oil and gas law or related field.
  • Six years experience in a commercial legal environment in a private practice firm, in-house or other business environment.
  • Good knowledge of and experience in Ghanaian and international laws and practices in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong personal customer service orientation and ability to build relationships.
  • Good IT/analytical skills with experience in Microsoft suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Data Interpretation and analysis.
  • Strong engagement and presentation skills.

Tasks and activities

  • Support the Country Manager to develop and manage the Country Office in Accra, Ghana, in accordance with the approved strategies and business plans.
  • Support the Country Manager to build the necessary capabilities of the Ghana Country office and team to execute such strategies and plans.
  • Support the efforts of HSSEQ, area development, subsurface, drilling and wells, field development, operations.
  • Responsible for demonstrating results from the Local Content Strategy implementation with Capacity building of Local contractors and suppliers.
  • Responsible for working with the relevant teams to develop and maintain a stakeholder Plan for Aker Energy activities and operations in Ghana, covering also all permits and approvals.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining relations with relevant Government Agencies in Ghana.
  • Support the Country Manager to ensure that regulatory matters are handled to the best of interest for Aker Energy and its Partners.

Qualifications and experience

  • A Ghanaian with a minimum of 15 years' experience in the Oil and Gas sector with a minimum of seven years in middle or senior management.
  • Preferred experience from international oil organizations and an exposure to field development projects.
  • Builder of strong relationships with key stakeholders within and outside of Ghana.
  • Good understanding of business integrity and compliance to anti-corruption rules and regulations.
  • Experience with the local framework for conducting Oil and Gas business in Ghana.
  • Experience in negotiations.
  • Ability to deliver according to expectations.
  • University degree, MSc or equivalent.
